will escalation in the far east lead to a full blown war between china and Japan? Will this cause the stock markets to tumble as public will and fund will take a more defensive position with gold prevalence in their portfolios?

Japan Dispatches F-15s, E-767s And P-3 Into China’s Air Defense Zone, China Scrambles Su-30 In Response

China’s escalation and re-escalation described in detail yesterday, has just been met with a corresponding re-re-escalation by Japan.
- China’s Ministry of Defense reports that the nation identified Japanese military planes that entered into Chinese air defense identification zone today.
- 7 batches of 10 Japanese planes consisting of E-767, P-3 and F-15 entered into the zone
- China has also identified 2 batches of 2 U.S. surveillance planes consisting of P-3 and EP-3, without specifying whether the planes entered into the zone
- China scrambled Su-30, J-11 and other aircraft in response.
And now it’s China’s turn to, once again, respond. And then Japan and the US again, and so on, until someone gets hurt.

One of two things, I think:
Either the Chinese are doing this on their own at this time to take advantage of the Israeli-Iranian fiasco brewing, believing that we won’t want to get involved in something of a two-front war, so we won’t push very hard against the Chinese, who we know have had issues with the Japanese in the past. The Chinese probably feel we are more willing to accept a new status quo in the far-Pacific area than to risk our oil being cut off from the Middle East for whatever length of time, due to a flare-up with Iran.
Or… thingy number two:
Obama cooked this up with the Chinese to buy time for the Iranians to build their bomb(s?). Obie can say “Hey, we can’t cook hard against the Iranians now, even if they are developing the bomb, because we hafta worry about that thing over there with Japan and China. I will not allow Americans to engage in hostilities on two front at the same time.”
There’s other things too. O needs a respite from Obamascare; that Benghazi business isn’t going away; and maybe just as important as any, and intertwined with it all… O’s ratings are deep diving and the 2014 elections cometh. Gee, our hero… saved us from war with China… let’s elect all dem bums again.
Like Rahm Emmanuel said: “Never let a good crisis go to waste”, or words to that effect.
