what would I do, if I was a governor of WI?

I am not sure if the state employee union can be dismantled, however the state government is entitled to check, if fraud is committed by state employees, such as teachers, who are calling sick en mass and shutting down schools and leaving thousands of children and their parents stranded.  I would demand to see doctor’s notes from every teacher or other employee, who called in sick. Ones that do not have such notes would receive a warning, that in future they have to provide doctor’s notes, attesting to the fact that they are sick. If  they continue missing work without justification, it would be grounds for termination of their employment.

There are a lot of teachers who are currently unemployed and getting unemployment benefits from the government. I would push new laws, whereby welfare will be replaced with  workfare, where individuals will be required   to work in order to receive benefits. Working in schools, where permanent teachers are striking would be an example of such workfare.

They should all be fired for endangering the lives of the children they involed in a protest. If things got really nasty they could have been hurt.

fire these teachers and hire the ones waiting for jobs. These teachers have abused their right.

This is a common tactic in Wisconsin.
I remember this legislative tactic when I resided in Wisconsin for 2 years about 15 years ago.
If they boycott the legislature and do not leave the State they can be arrested and brought back to the Legislature under arrest.

Wisconsin has a law that states (basically for dereliction of duty) it is a felony. That seems to be serious, but the head of the republican party said they would not prosecute their colleagues…WTF

Workfare, not welfare…..that is a wonderful campaign slogan.

But Orly, teachers are not employees of the State of Wisconsin, so where would you derive your authority to do all this? Teachers work for the local school districts.
