Cal. Prop. 14 “Top Two” to eliminate minor parties and challengers
On June 8, 2010, California voters will vote on Proposition 14, “Top Two”, a deceptively worded initiative that would eliminate all but the top two candidates for most public offices from the November ballots, which could be two from the same party, and will almost certainly eliminate minor parties and independents. Write-ins will be forbidden.

Such a measure was enacted in Washington State, and it has had the effect of entrenching incumbents.

Recent polls indicate Prop. 14 is still leading, but that support for it is declining as more people come to understand what it would do. You are urged to forward this message to any California voters you know so that they may make an informed decision.
