State employees of Rhode Island should go on the radio shows in large groups and sue Gov Chaffee for violating their right for free speech and doing it under the color of authority. They should start a recall effort to remove Chaffee from office asap. They should chip in on a one way ticket to Iran or North Korea to Chaffee, he will be at home there

Panic on the Left

by Colonel Bob Pappas, USMC, Retired

First, our prayers and heartfelt concern goes out for those injured or killed and their families in Tucson. They did not deserve what they got and the failure of Sheriff Dupnik to provide a presence given his obvious concern, is in my opinion, unforgivable. On the other hand, the nonsense of claiming that Sarah Palin, FOX News, Rush Limbaugh, or other conservative caused lunatic-Loughner to shoot Congresswoman Giffords is about as credible as claiming that Jimmy Hoffa caused hurricane Katrina. We have suggested here that if those on the political left want to cool the rhetoric, they should begin at home, and we presently repeat that admonition. Sheriff Dupnik should resign!

Where were these people during the riots of the 1960s? Oh? That was different? Yes, it was much worse then as leftists argued, “It’s our 1st Amendment right!” Okay, where were they during the G.W. Bush Administration when Hollywood produced a movie depicting the assassination of the President? Oh, and yes, there are plenty of other examples.

Democrats are the ones creating the present media frenzy given the oversized chip on their shoulders following the well deserved drubbing they took in November. And they are the ones who in this instant case are earning even more the disdain of Middle America! Yes. Why doesn’t the government overreact just a little bit and lock down the entire country? Shades of the USSR! Is there even one sane Democrat remaining?

Check out our “friends” at the Daily Kos and read about their “targeting” Blue Dog Democrats during the recent political, tsunami induced, election landslide that has moved the country decidedly to the right.  Look at virtually any Democrat strategy paper and find “target” lists of opponents.  Look at the Advertising Industry and find “targeted audiences.” What? How can that be? Are we now going to collectively overreact and allow government to overreach because one “crazy,” wet behind the ears, mentally imbalanced, arguably left-wing lunatic took it on himself to act as accuser, jury and executioner of innocent people?

Democrats and/or Republicans to whom it applies need to get a grip on their out-of-control emotions and cease running around with their “hair on fire.”  They might consider dunking their collective heads in a bucket of water. It is evident as information emerges that Loughner is ideologically left of Mainstream America; actually, he appears to be a leftist anarchist. That scares the stuffing out of Democrats and in part evidently underlies their motivation to pin Loughner on the “right” before the actual picture emerges that he operated as a lone “sicko” who harbored a personal grudge against the Congresswoman.

Anyone who knows any actual history knows that Mao Tse Tung was a communist dictator,  Hitler was a socialist dictator, Stalin was a communist dictator, Pol Pot was a communist dictator, and they collectively were responsible for the aggregate murder of more than 200 million human beings. Now ‘cometh” Hugo Chavez, the leftist tin-horned dictator of Venezuela, methodically shutting down the rights of the Venezuelan people.  His erstwhile communist friend, Fidel Castro has executed hundreds of opponents and has held the Cuban people in an oppressed state for fifty years. Danger to freedom today dear reader, is from the political left augmented by loons on the extreme right. The problem with their cacophony is that Democrats and some Republicans have the mistaken belief that they own the country, not that their job is to serve its people!

Finally, a word about State employees of Rhode Island who are now “prohibited” by their Governor from appearing on “talk radio.” First, they might consider telling him where to go, and if one decides to go on the air and identify oneself as a State employee, one should not divulge ones identity. In the alternative one does not have to divulge oneself as a State employee to express ones 1st Amendment opinions. That noted, there may be some matters of State that Chafee can legitimately proscribe from discussion, those should be respected. But commentary, political or otherwise is protected under the 1st Amendment.

Chafee’s concern may be genuine, but his judgment is severely flawed and that’s not a good start for the Governor! This is America, not some “Banana Republic” despite this instance of his and yes, Obama’s efforts to make it so!

Such tyranny! This is reminiscent of reports from behind the Iron Curtain where neighborhood Party bosses intimidated the citizenry, telling them WHAT TO SAY or WHAT NOT TO SAY, to go Communist Youth Initiations instead of First Communions or risk losing a place at university or a demotion at work. So Rhode Island, that venerable beacon during the US Revolution, wishes to subject its citizens to something worse than King George could have thought up. Phooey!

Lincoln Chaffee prohibited employees under the control of the Governor’s office not to appear on talk radio shows DURING WORK HOURS!
This is an absolutely appropriate workplace rule. Veritas, for a guy (or gal) whose name means “truth”, you sure tell a lot of lies.
