It seemed clear to me from the beginning, the f.b.i. only wanted apple’s cooperation merely to lend authenticity to information that they themselves planted on the phone in question.

Such things should be worked on a one to one basis and in secret without the use of threats and force. FBI would not be I this problem if the had handles this problem in a more delicate matter.
