Russia’s response to sanctions: expected annexation of coal rich Donbass region

ДНР и ЛНР заявили о желании войти в состав РФ
G-7 just came back with more sanctions against Russia. today Russian media announced that 2 small brake-away regions of Ukraine, calling themselves Donetsk republic and Lugansk republic, are seeking to join Russian federation, just as Crimea did. If they join Russian federation, Ukraine will lose not just the most important ports of Crimea, but also the lifeline of its’ economy, Donbass region rich in coal, coke and known fr its’ steel making. My guess is that Putin feels that he has nothing to lose at this point, he is already kicked out of G-7, he is already sanctioned, Americans and Europeans can’t do much more as they will not send their troops for an all out war with Russia, so he will go next after the strategic Black sea port of Odessa and will annex it together with Transnistria, which is a part of Moldova, carved out by Russia earlier.

Putin kept the Pope waiting an hour. What was he trying to say with that?
