Russia took over Ukrainian bases and half of Ukrainian ships without firing one single shot. This might embolden Putin to go after the whole Eastern Ukraine and a strategic port of Odessa. this all depends on whether a back-room deal was made with the US and whether Putin will honor the deal

…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..Many were surprised by very limited sanctions by Obama against Putin. Truth be told, Obama dd not really have too many choices. The markets went down on uncertainty in Ukraine, so I believe Obama was under a lot of pressure from the ruling oligarchy to apply very limited sanctions in order to calm down jittery markets, which he did. Also, Obama cannot get Europeans on board, as one third of their gas comes from Russia.
As I said before, in order to succeed in this fight, U.S. needs to rebuild its economy, rescind WTO-GATT and NAFTA, restart manufacturing n the U.S. and become an energy exporter, not importer . We have nothing to offer to Western Europe, we cannot replace the energy that they will lose, if russia cuts off the supply .
Instead of increasing oil and gas exploration, Obama cut the number of permits he gave for exploration on federal land. The rise in US oil and gas production came from the private lands, in spite of Obama. One might wonder, whether Obama is really that incompetent or working for the other side.
It was widely reported that Putin will not annex any more Ukrainian territories, however think about it, why wouldn’t he? He just took over all of Ukrainian bases in Crimea and half of Ukrainian navy without firing one single shot, why wouldn’t he go further?
it seems, Putin might have made a temporary back room deal, in order to give himself time to take over the Ukrainian navy and military bases in Crimea. today it was announced that Putin took Ukrainian military bases and half of the whole Ukrainian navy without firing one shot.
Even if Putin made a temporary agreement with Obama, he will use an excuse of aiding fellow Russians in other areas in order to bake whatever temprary deal was made. I believe that Putin might move forward in the next 2 months, before the elections in Kiev. I believe he will move towards Donetsk, Harkov and possibly Odessa.
Moreover, as the attention of the West is diverted by the crisis of the missing Malaysian airliner, this gives Putin somewhat of a cover to move in Eastern and Southern Ukraine.
