Response from Phil Hanlon, President of Dartmouth to the letter sent by Dr. Orly Taitz, ESQ in regards to insulting behavior by Dartmouth students towards Governor Perry. What do you think about this letter?
Posted on | November 13, 2014 | 4 Comments
Dear Dr. Taitz,
Thank you for writing regarding questions posed by students at Governor Rick Perry’s recent talk.
Dartmouth prizes and defends the right of free speech and individual expression of dissent so long as the exercise of this right doesn’t deny the same right to another individual. Upholding this right sometimes means that individuals will make comments that fall short of fostering a productive and respectful discourse.
Provost Dever and I recently issued a message to campus encouraging all members of our community to engage in more productive and civil conversations.https://www.dartmouth.edu/~president/announcements/2014-1113.html
I’m glad to see both students and faculty expressing their opinions in a thoughtful and productive manner, through several opinion pieces in the student newspaper this week, and encourage you to read those if you haven’t yet. The term is coming to a close next week, but in the meantime, faculty, students, and staff are working together to find ways to encourage respectful exchanges while maintaining individual rights.
Warm regards,
Phil Hanlon ’77

COMPLAINT IN REGARDS TO DESPICABLE, LEWD BEHAVIOR BY DARTMOUTH STUDENTS DURING THE MEETING WITH GOVERNOR OF TEXAS, RICK PERRY, DEMAND FOR AN APOLOGY FROM DARTMOUTH COLLEGE, DEMAND FOR SUSPENSION OF THE STUDENTS ENGAGED IN INSULTS AGAINST THE GOVERNOR OF TEXAS
Dear President Hanlon,
Dartmouth is one of Ivy League college which for some 200 years represented the best this nation has to offer. I have a lot of respect for Ivy League education and, as a matter of fact, two of my three sons attended top Ivy League universities.
Unfortunately, recent behavior of Dartmouth students during the meeting with the Governor of Texas, Rick Perry, was far below what one would expect from Ivy League students.
For example, one of the students, Emily Sellers, asked Governor Perry if he would agree to anal sex in exchange for a campaign contribution. A number of other students asked similar lewd, insulting questions.(see New York Magazine and Townhall articles below)
These students not only insulted Governor Perry, they also insulted some 26 million citizens of Texas, who voted for Perry repeatedly a record number of times. Perry served as Texas governor since 2000, 14 years, and during this time he created a business friendly environment which attracted a record number of jobs. At a time when most states see huge losses of jobs and huge deficits, Texas bolstered by far the biggest job creation in the country and low deficits. Dartmouth students could tap in his knowledge and success record of the National leader and luminary, instead they chose to act as feeble minded thugs and insult Governor Perry.
I believe, as the President of Dartmouth, you owe Governor Perry and citizens of Texas a heartfelt apology for this horrific behavior of your students. I believe, you should take an administrative action of academic suspension or expulsion of students who behaved in such insulting fusion. As a President of Defend our Freedoms foundation, I am the biggest fighter for free speech. However, there is a big difference between a free speech and insults and bullying exhibited by Dartmouth students.
Additionally, as the President of DOFF and in furtherance of free speech I would like to meet with Dartmuth students and provide them with my findings of corruption in the top echelons of power in all three branches of the government and I ask for your help in arranging such meeting.
Respectfully,
/s/ Dr. Orly Taitz, ESQ

Dartmouth Student Asks Rick Perry If He’d Have Anal Sex for Campaign Donations
By Jessica Roy
Former presidential candidate and current Texas governor Rick Perry visited Dartmouth on Sunday night to dispense some of his political wisdom. On his agenda, accordingto the school paper The Dartmouth: U.S. border security, energy initiatives, and foreign policy. But what else did students end up asking him about? Butt stuff.
Some Dartmouth students reportedly created and circulated a one-page sheet to refer to should they get chosen to ask a question. It included questions such as, “I know you have been very strong on all foreign policy issues, including Somali pirates, but what is your stance on butt pirates?” and “Does your ideal anti-sodomy law prevent me from playing with my own poop shoot?” (Top conservatives on Twitter are, unsurprisingly, not amused.)
Though the students didn’t get a chance to ask all of their clever questions,The Dartmouth reports:
Emily Sellers ’15 asked if Perry would have anal sex in exchange for campaign contributions of $102 million, while Timothy Messen ’18 accused the governor of comparing homosexuality to alcoholism.
College students: still extremely mature.

Stay Classy, Liberals: Gov. Rick Perry Gets Anal Sex Questions At Dartmouth

This is liberalism at its finest. Get really angry with someone who holds views different from your own, and then berate that person with hyper-emotional drivel. In this case, the victim was Texas Gov. Rick Perry, who received sexually explicit questions from Dartmouth’s student body regarding anal sex during a visit to the college. Perry is a social conservative.
According to the Dartmouth, the student newspaper, Perry was there to discuss the midterms, border security, energy initiatives and foreign policy. There was a Q&A session–and that’s when things devolved. Both presidents of the College Democrats and Republicans condemned the actions of their peers [emphasis mine]:
When Perry opened up discussion to the audience, several students posed questions, deriding Perry’s views on same-sex marriage.
Emily Sellers ’15 asked if Perry would have anal sex in exchange for campaign contributions of $102 million, while Timothy Messen ’18 accused the governor of comparing homosexuality to alcoholism.
Ben Packer ’17, who wrote and distributed these and other questions, said Perry’s views were more insulting than the questions.
Several members of the audience said they were excited to hear Perry speak but offended by the questions.
“I was really excited to see him come out to Dartmouth and speak with the students and I think he was able to cater towards the entire audience, not only the College Republicans,” Abraham Herrera ’18 said, noting that some students’ remarks were offensive.
“They were phrased in incredibly insulting ways, and I’m horrified,” College Republicans president Michelle Knesbach ’17 said. “We allow people to ask policy-driven questions, but when they’re phrased in an insulting manner, we try to avoid that, because it just detracts from the overall political discourse we can have on campus.”
College Democrats president Spencer Blair ’17 agreed, stating that he understood concerns about Perry’s stance on gay marriage but was disappointed by the tone of the questions.
“I think it’s really disappointing that anyone would undermine a serious political event with sexually explicit questions, and neither I nor anyone from College Democrats would ever condone such behavior,” said Blair. “We appreciate Governor Perry visiting campus, as we encourage any sort of political engagement and discourse here at Dartmouth.”
Zachary Myslinski ’15 said that he thought the questions posed legitimate concerns about Perry’s social policies.
Keep in mind; this is the same school that held a lesson in “cultural appropriation” for Halloween costumes last month.
Again, liberalism at its finest.

They do not know history…..vulgarity is a big part of their knowledge . Those who asked those despicable, stupid questions, I hope will be denied a good paying job in the futur. It is on record forever, little genius of Ivy League!

Oh, C’mon lighten up. That was a legitimate question, and don’t try to convince me otherwise. Every single elected official doesn’t even earn that much “respect”. All they are are “elected” criminals. They lie their *sses off to get elected then crap on their supporters when they win. They’re the lowest form of life society produces.

Needless to say, this would not happen at Liberty University where more and more will attend as Ivy League schools become covered with ivy and filled with plummeting enrollments.
