@ObligedFriend @Pudingtane I bought it at a thrift store thinking its a fake, there’s a tiny Hawaii sovereign flag patch on the back of it. – – – – his sister posted this – – Myrna Puentes Gunderson shared a note via Ferdinand Puentes. My brothers story… I’m so proud of him and grateful he survived.

Orly – on Fernando Puente’s Twitter account he has posted a picture of a newspaper clip – (think from Instastream which I don’t have access to) the article was written October 12, 2012 – “Kalaupapa Parish Church/Chapel To Get A New Roof” – – recall that Puente stated he’d been on the Island to work on the roof. Comment to article was that ‘he was at the top’ – (Hawaii Catholic Herald – I haven’t been able to pull the Herald’s article – but you could go to Puentes Twitter a/c and view)

Instagram NOT Instastream – – I just went through all his pictures – – he truly spends mega time fishing!!! – – lots of fish pictures and also of him in his ‘construction garb’ – – so it appears like he has the older son – 19, and a younger one – which butterdezillon posted one of – – I’m not sure about someone who said she is his daughter – can’t always ‘trust’ Facebook – -• Dominique Puentes-Young
    • Durango High School
Durango High is in Colorado – – Puentes has posted a picture of him – in the snow – in Colorado –

Ms. Netty at Butterdezillion states now that an
EXTRA woman was on board the flight from Mol-
okai. This person was ALSO a body double for
Fuddy. They obviously had this all planned.
Where are the POLICE? Why is Schuman not yet

What motivated the question: ‘DID HE SERVE IN SPECIAL FORCES?’ Feels like I missed something although I am pretty much reading your posts daily.

BTW: The term ‘special forces’ using a lower case spelling such as this, is a generic term while if it is used as a proper noun, Special Forces, it refers to the specific Army unit civilians know best as the Green Berets. In generic usage there is a lot of overlap and confusion between the terms special forces and special ops (operations).

A simple way to distinguish one from the other is that Special Forces are force multipliers, meaning their primary role is training, generally in cross cultural situations, either troops of allied foreign countries and or opponents of military regimes or forces deemed hostile to us or our allies. Special Forces teams are expected to work closely with local populations often out of contact with other US forces for weeks or months. Activities can cover the gamut from basic military training, recon, medical and public health activities, operations against enemy forces, etc.

Special operations units on the other hand focus on the recon aspect of things, think of rangers, Seals, Force Recon, etc. Their missions are generally planed well in advance, are very specific, and of short duration.

Special Forces is actually also the pre-eminent US military special operations organization – it is just that is not their primary mission, which is one of the reasons for the confusion over what term means what. Even the admiral who was I believe the former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, couldn’t get the terms straight – but then what can you expect from a navy puke… 🙂

One of the primary differences between individuals found in the two is that Special Forces teams are very highly trained in not just their own specialty but are constantly cross training in their compatriots skills as well. There is also a very high demand on being able to think and act independently, and to interact with those outside of the US military – the job after all is to not only train but to ‘win the hearts and minds’ of those they are working with. It is not that bravado is lacking, it is that courage and ability is tempered by the need to get, not your way, but the job done. Jesse Ventura was special ops, he was not Special Forces – don’t know of any former Special Forces who made a career in WWW – don’t know any who would want to be on a mission with that meat head either… For the most part, Special Forces troops are very patriotic; however, if you ever meet a for real SF troop who has a working relationship with the CIA just write him off – there are very few exceptions to this rule.

Sorry for the long winded info dump, sometimes distinctions can be important, and sometimes personal attitudes just take over…
