As you know I am both an attorney and a doctor of dental surgery. Today I had an audit from one of dental HMOs. The auditor told me that there is a new requirement, where the offices have to post a notification on the wall of the waiting room that they speak other languages and have forms for patients to fill in other languages, like Spanish.
I explained to her that even though I speak 5 languages, I will not do it. I told her to put down English only. The HMOs pay next to nothing as it is and there will be no compensation for printing the new forms, for additional time for doctors to review the medical forms in other languages. Doctors have n obligation to be polyglots. Additionally, if I place such a notation on the wall of my office and my associate dentist, who does not speak Spanish, treats a patient, there may be responsibility, liability for not providing care in a certain language. The patient will claim that he relied on a notation that care is provided in a certain language. In CA we had an idiocy, where comedy clubs were sued because they did not provide sign language translators for deaf people.
Until now people knew that in order to come to America and make it in America, they have to learn English. Now complete morons, Liberal Democrats sitting in the government in Washington DC, Sacramento and running these large HMOs come up with the most idiotic rules, they do not understand that there is an additional cost involved in complying with these rules and lastly they do not understand that they actually destroy the people they are claiming to help. These people, many of whom are illegal immigrants and their children getting free services at the expenses of the citizens of California, are being taught by these Liberal Democrat to be uneducated and dependent on the government. People who used to make an effort to learn English, no longer do that.
