Another pompous elitist act of condescending to the unwashed masses.

How dare she denigrate what our Lord did in shedding His blood to save the lost to equate Hillary as a reason for a person to spend eternity in hell. I would say that those that would vote for this this evil woman in essence is bringing hell here on earth.

What does she know about Hell? Most of the Progressives are atheists because Lenin taught them that religion is opium for the masses.
But people who are not progressives – and their leaders – should learn an important lesson from Canada:

Baruch, it wasn’t Lenin it was Karl Marx who “taught us” that religion is the opium for the masses. unfortunately you also missed the context in which it was said.
but it’s never too late to learn something new. even for you.
oh, and the reason we’re atheists (and like in my case also anti-theists) is because there’s neither proof nor indication for the existence of one ore multiple gods.

John Cole, you are right, Karl Marx was the first, but I meant Vladimir Lenin, who spoke of religion in Novaya Zhizn in 1905; he did allude to Marx’s earlier comments:
Religion is one of the forms of spiritual oppression which everywhere weighs down heavily upon the masses of the people, over burdened by their perpetual work for others, by want and isolation. Impotence of the exploited classes in their struggle against the exploiters just as inevitably gives rise to the belief in a better life after death as impotence of the savage in his battle with nature gives rise to belief in gods, devils, miracles, and the like. Those who toil and live in want all their lives are taught by religion to be submissive and patient while here on earth, and to take comfort in the hope of a heavenly reward. But those who live by the labor of others are taught by religion to practice charity while on earth, thus offering them a very cheap way of justifying their entire existence as exploiters and selling them at a moderate price tickets to well-being in heaven. Religion is opium for the people. Religion is a sort of spiritual booze, in which the slaves of capital drown their human image, their demand for a life more or less worthy of man.
It looks like this is one of your favorite subjects. You need to read Master and Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov.

Go figure. That’s why Rush nicknamed her “Madeline Half-Bright.”
As for #4s comment…as the one thief reiterated to the other thief…”Have you no fear of God?”
I guess a belief in the creator is a leap of faith. Perhaps we will all find out in the end.

To be real atheists you must apply the concept to all religions equally. How come atheists don’t apply it to islam? A better term for atheists would be hypocrites!
