In general gun free zones are death zones, as criminals and mentally disturbed people find weapons, but law abiding citizens and victims are deprived of their constitutional Second Amendment right to bear arms and protect themselves.
Bill Clinton, as the US President and Commander in Chief , issued an executive order to disarm members of the US military on bases. Obama saw first hand disastrous results of this order, as 16 people were killed as a result of the terrorist act by Nidal Hassan. Obama had a duty to reverse this oder and he did not do it. Now we are seeing the results of these un-American orders.
It is time for all the members of the US military to join in the class action against the DOD and Commander in chief seeking to find unconstitutional and undo this order.

Members of the armed forces cannot challenge the decisions of the commander-in-chief in the courts. Have another look at the Constitution, and the legislation. A candidate for AG surely needs to know just a bit about the law.

In the US Marine Corps in the mid 60’s, we were only armed if it was a duty requirement. IE Duty NCO, Guarding cash payroll, etc.

The current policy with respect to guns on army posts was implemented in the George H. W. Bush administration by his Secretary of Defense, Dick Cheney. However, prior policy similarly restricted guns. Guns were not generally allowed on air force bases when I first entered the service in 1984, when Reagan was President.

The exec order restricting carrying private weapons on military reservations except when the safety of base personnel or property was issued by George H.W. Bush.
