The electronic system used by welfare recipients to purchase food with payment cards went offline early Saturday in Louisiana and many other states.

“I’m trying to reach out to everybody because I’m not thinking of me an adult who can figure out things. I’m thinking of the simpler person in the world who is sitting there trying to just do basic shopping to feed their kids. You don’t want children going hungry tonight because of stupidity,” she said.
In Clarksdale, Miss. — one of the poorest parts of one of the poorest states in the nation — cashier Eliza Shook said dozens of customers at Corner Grocery had to put back groceries when the cards failed Saturday because they couldn’t afford to pay for the food. After several hours, she put a sign on the front door to tell people about the problem.
“It’s been terrible,” Shook said in a phone interview. “It’s just been some angry folks. That’s what a lot of folks depend on.”

I tell you what, if Hussein is responsible for this it’s the 1st positive step he has taken towards reducing our nations’ debt. I’m all for ending any and all giveaway programs. There are a few true hardship cases out there but 99% of welfare is fraud. Just deadbeats too lazy to get out and provide for themselves and the children they took responsibility for when they decided to have em. End the big welfare scam now!!

I read this and heard on news but; I agree with Rod but I also think this was a “dry run” to see what reaction the criminal regime would get. What no rioting yet?

Obama had planned for 16 Blue States to have riots so he could call for martial law. Does anyone not see that this was done to primarily if not all BLUE STATES.. ie states ran by Democrats! The Democrats are in on these operations…. one representative even ran into a hearing to announce that they had martial law. Meaning they were prepared to do martial law in 16 states.

This is how I first saw how vast the food stamp problem is. I was in the local grocery store a couple years ago, and I was about the only customer in there, when normally there are many people there. I mentioned to the cashier how quiet it was in there. She told me that the EBT system was down and no one could buy groceries.
That’s also when I realized another reason my groceries have gotten so high. In the stores that have a lot of EBT customers, they can charge higher prices, because it doesn’t matter, people are using the food stamps and will buy things without thinking about the prices so much. They are just cashing in their chips. It raises the prices for all of us.
It is not just a system to help the poor, it is also a system of government bailout crony capitalism.

I’ll bite here; no pun intended.
I work and commute six days per week, over twelve hours per day, for a salary I earned in 1994. I have NEVER been given, awarded, granted nor applied for any assistance of any kind. I scrimp and save and subsist on soup and little else, so my credit remains A-1; all bills paid.
That being said, there isn’t a single time I am EVER in the grocery store, where I don’t see perfectly capable people utilizing food stamps * using our tax money to purchase DOZENS of 2-liter bottles of Pepsi and all sorts of garbage when I KNOW that food stamps are supposed to dictate that money is to be spent on nutritious foods. I see these thugs spending food stamp funds on cigarettes, beer; all sorts of crap. I truly resent what they do, but the money keeps pouring forward and NOBODY mandates those people should get a job and get off the dole-out programs. I never catch a break, and all of these lowlifes, who sit on their stoops, shouting at me, day after day, while I trudge off to work or drag home from work….I fail to see where any justice is.

Gillian: that is what happens when the government hands out EBT cards like candy and forces us ALL into poverty with unbridled illegal immigration, taxes which destroy entrepreneurial motivation and Obamacare which is destroying jobs and reducing people to 29 hours a week. Well, I do understand the feelings of Why Me? But I caution all to see something covert happening:…there are legitimate people out there that are caught in difficult circumstances and can’t do much else!
In my state, the food stamps can’t buy: alcohol nor cigarettes! And the timeframe for the FS to be shutdown, saw some, not that many, that were helped with a $50 dollar coupon to buy food for their families!
We can all criticize others…but we do not know their circumstances! Are any of us perfecrt? I’m not. And that idea that this only happened in (D) states is wrong! I know of at least (1) (R) state, as well.
