A Sharp View: How full-time jobs make us “go sane”

    ElectionsVote

It isn’t looking too good on America’s sanity front these days. It’s not just that too many people are committing terrible crimes, or trying to. That is too obvious . But human self-destruction is now going beyond the bottom line of simply selfish crime. In recent years man’s inhumanity to man has been seen wandering into anyone’s car in a needlessly murderous car jacking, or anyone’s home in a needlessly homicidal home invasion. In the wake of the statistics that measure these trends, I can’t blame who wants to keep a ready gun handy for self-defense in his or her home or car.

Today, it appears that the only deterrent that will work against the current madness is “the Law of the Old West.”

Meanwhile, one of the latest slogans to get heated up among today’s disenchanted is, “Obama so loved the poor, that he created a million more.” This little playfulness is referring to the more than million Americans who have dropped into poverty incomes since Obama took office. It also means that of all the new jobs that Obama has created between January 2009 and August 2013 – according to statistics published by the House Ways and Means Committee—there have been seven times more new part-time jobs ( 1.9 million) to new full-time jobs (only 270,000).

Of course, part-times jobs are generally the lowest hourly paid jobs to be had in our system, which is where the growth in the recent poverty has been stemming.

So it is no wonder that Obama has created in just five years the kind of American poverty that a Republican such as a Dwight Eisenhower or a Ronald Reagan would never get forgiven over. This is especially true since the targets of Obama’s poverty creations are mostly African-Americans, Latino-Americans and women of America followed by American young people. In other words, the people who have suffered the worst from Obama’s economics are those who mostly voted for him.

But my years of watching the Democrats create increasing clots of poverty in America with their apathy to free enterprise has made me more grateful that the Republicans during their turns in office have pushed the country back towards some prosperity levels. Surely when an Eisenhower or a Reagan has reduced the poverty left by Democrats, they have earned the reward of cross-over support throughout the nation.

A rather prototype Democrat administration such as Obama does not simply create poverty, though. The Democrats have now created a sub-culture that has nothing purposeful to do during the day. So I think there has to be a strong connection now between a lot of Americans with nothing to do and a lot of Americans becoming just stir crazy nuts.

Surely the American mind is simply too potent to run it in idle for too long. Like a big car engine with a lot of cylinders going off, the grandiose U.S. brain will begin to overheat after an abnormal period of idleness. This is why I believe we are getting so much so much strange torture-rendering and mass-killings out of our communities recently. It is not that so many Americans are acting out so crazily because solar storms have mess up the electro-magnetics of their nervous system. All the weirdness and road rage and infanticide and parricide and matricide out there now has more to do with idling minds that have slid off into no-man’s land.

Total unemployment and unemployed hours around part- time work will eventually take its toll on anyone’s mind. On the other hand, employment creates a framework of behaviorism hat will lead us out of our worst behaviors. At home, for example, we are more prone to throwing some furniture around when we blow up. But we are not so likely to act out that extremely in our workplace. That is because the same behavior and language that might get us fired immediately at work does not face the same behavioristic boundaries at home – unfortunately for all the people who have the share the home.

Cognitive behaviorism is an outgrowth of a more general mental health science that grew very popular after World War II, when everyone saw what too many people in the world flipping out could do to a planet. The popular idea of cognitive behavior is that when you start getting used to taking proper actions – even if improper emotions are fighting your decision to act correctly – your emotions will finally give in and start acting as correctly as your acts.

Cognitive behaviorism is a system that works well in more prosperous times, when unemployment is low, but it becomes less effective as unemployment increases and people grow more frustrated. Today – when there are so many Amerticans with nothing to do for so long – not even therapy is helping much.
