According to data compiled by the BLS in Employment and Earnings (January 2006), a married person was much less likely to be unemployed than a single, widowed, or divorced individual in 2005. This observation held true across all races. In 2005 single, never-married males aged sixteen and over (9.5%) had more than three times the unemployment rate of married males (2.8%). Widowed, divorced, or separated males (5.6%) had twice the unemployment rate of married men. While only 2.5% of white, married men were unemployed in 2005, 8.2% of single white men and 5% of widowed, divorced, or separated white males were out of work. Among African-Americans, 5.1% of married men aged sixteen years and older were unemployed in 2005, com-pared with 9.5% of widowed, divorced, or separated men and 16.9% of single blacks. Dr. Orly, I’m being hawked. Apparently someone doesnt’s want me to read any of the comments being made because when I click on them, I can’t get back, either it freezes my computer or a page comes up saying the net has expired. I have to leave your site and start from scratch to get to where I was.—–By the way, we are only 18 short of 57,000 signatures.

there might be a possibility that there are more working married men, because men who are not employed, don’t rush to gt married an have a family, they wait to be settled. Women don’t rush to marry men, who are not employed and not settled, as they cannot support a family. There is probably an mixture of factors
