If Trump is successful with getting the wall funding and ending the chain migration, he will benefit the country in the long run. We’ll see what the final deal will be

President Trump proposed his deal with the Dems: he will naturalize 1.8 million illegal aliens in 10-12 years in exchange for $25 billion to build a border wall and ending the chain migration and ending the lottery immigration.
While Trump supporters and most Republicans are not happy about naturalizing 1.8 million illegals, the wall and the changes in the current laws to end the chain migration might benefit the country in the long run.
Every year 1 million people immigrate to this country legally and another half a million illegally. Depending on the surveys, between 50% to 80% of legal immigrants come to this country through the chain migration. Many of these individuals are extremely poor, uneducated or elderly. They all immediately become a burden on this country and the tax payers. Cutting the legal immigration by half a million per year and illegal immigration to close to half a million per year will help American workers to get more jobs and better wages, it will also help to balance our budget and start paying $20 trillion debt.
The devil is in the details. We’ll see what will be the details of the deal in the end.

Why don’t we just adopt part of Mexico’s constitution? If you go to Mexico legally you have to have a financial support system. You cannot get on their public welfare rolls as a foreigner.

Unfortunately, we still have RINO weasels like John Cornyn in the senate who are owned by cheap-labor interests.
The very LAST thing they want is E-verify, because they know that will work in ways that a border wall will not.

naturalize or just give legal status? I hope not citizenship right away. People need to earn it.

supposedly citizenship in 10-12 years
I don’t like it, but it appears that this is the best deal he can get in order to get funding to the wall and end chain migration

we have similar laws, but they are not being followed

That rule is in our current immigration laws. Remember when an immigrant, before they came here, had to 1) have a job waiting for them upon arrival and/or 2) had a sponsor that would house and support them until they found a job. Our “leaders” have been ignoring that law for decades.

Another immigration law that’s on the books but ignored: legislation was passed in the ’90s that requires employers to use E-verify for new hires.
BTW, and Orly will confirm this, obama’s stolen SSN was flagged by E-verify when it was run through that system in – I believe, it was in 2010 or ’11. The result said the holder of that SSN was not eligible to be hired in any job in the U.S. Another critical piece of evidence against obama’s eligibility for POTUS that was not allowed for discovery in a court of law. I pray one of these days Dr. Orly will be fully vindicated with obama’s criminal exposure.
