Trump’s Lead Grows After Debate, Controversy Reid Wilson | August 10, 2015 Real estate magnate Donald Trump’s lead over the Republican field grew in the several days after his performance at the first GOP presidential debate, according to a new Morning Consult survey, even after he invited a new round of scorn from fellow candidates over impolitic comments about Fox News host Megyn Kelly. Trump leads the Republican field with 32 percent of the vote, up 7 percentage points over last week’s Morning Consult tracking poll. Trump’s nearest GOP rival, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, clocked in at 11 percent. No other Republican contender reaches double digits – retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson sits in third place at 9 percent, followed by Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker and Sen. Marco Rubio (Fla.) at 6 percent.

U.S. District Judge Emmet Sullivan of Washington, D.C. issued the order late Friday regarding a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit by the conservative watchdog group, Judicial Watch.

“The court hereby directs the government to request that Mrs. Hillary Clinton, Ms. Huma Abedin, and Ms. Cheryl Mills i) not delete any federal documents, electronic or otherwise, in their possession or control, and ii) provide appropriate assurances to the Government that the above-named individuals will not delete any such documents,” the court order says.

What’s more, Trump’s favorability ratings in this new poll skyrocketed.

“The share of Republican primary voters who say they view Trump favorably increased since the last tracking poll, to 62 percent from 57 percent,”

Some believe that there is no consensus that Trump will emerge eventually as the candidate for the GOP.
”Repudiated by influential Republicans, by Fox News viewers, and, by virtue of his attack on the moderators, by Fox hosts, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to cast Trump as the face of the GOP. That makes the liberal project to ensure that he is seen as the face of the Republican Party all that more urgent.”
