Trouble is Government (democrats) will confiscate our gold when you need it the most. In 1933 FDR confiscated all private gold. Paid market price for it but that action devalued our currency 20%. It is not that difficult it seems to get elected if you run on a platform to confiscate the money of those who have more than you.

Interesting…but if the dollar is fiat, why did these treasonous sob’s allow it to be used for decades, before and after the institution of the Fed, in 1913?
These people best not mess this up, or they will have more problems than they can handle!!!

Maybe this will help Midnight Cat understand “fiat money”
Federal Reserve Notes, also a United States banknotes or U.S. banknotes, are the banknotes used in the United States of America. Denominated in United States dollars, Federal Reserve Notes are printed by the United States Bureau of Engraving and Printing on paper made by Crane & Co. of Dalton, Massachusetts. Federal Reserve Notes are the only type of U.S. banknote currently produced

There is a link there to “The Nixon Shock”
The Nixon Shock was a series of economic measures undertaken by United States President Richard Nixon in 1971, the most significant of which was the unilateral cancellation of the direct convertibility of the United States dollar to gold.

Money, or currency is a fraudulent form of representing value and storing value. It allows the one printing the currency the pretense of creating all value, thereby claiming the right of reimbursement for the loan of false value. The only way to pay back interest on fake value is with real value, such as the gold no longer held in fort knox, as you cannot give back more fake money than you received.
In essence that is the fallacy of our national debt. Since our corrupt congress allowed the charter of the unfederal reserve the U.S. citizens have been paying a fake debt with the illegal and misrepresented “income tax”.

Gold, like the paper bills we use, is fiat currency also. The difference between gold and paper money is that the government can make a seemingly endless quantity of the latter, while the former is a fixed quantity.

I agree that disassociation of dollar and gold was a major contributing factor for in the debasement of the US currency. NAFTA, WTO-GATT, quantitative easement and amnesties exacerbated the problem
