After careful study since 2 a.m. Monday morning, when I got a copy of the bill, I’ve decided that I had to vote no on the debt ceiling deal announced by President Obama and House Speaker John Boehner.
First, this bill doesn’t much change our spending and debt outlook. The up-front cuts in the first two years are trivial – less than one percent. We’re still adding $7 TRILLION of new debt under this plan. We’re NEVER balancing the budget, NEVER even stabilizing our exploding debt-to-GDP ratio.
Second, there are no enforcement teeth in this bill – zero, zip, nada. So even these modest spending caps will be busted, sooner rather than later, in my opinion.
And third, I believe the spending cut triggers will actually help ensure that the newly-created select committee does not produce real reform. No deal will be more attractive to the liberals than what’s already in the triggers – deep, deep defense cuts with no real Medicare reform to make that program sustainable. And once those deep defense cuts kick in, there will be bipartisan pressure to bust even the modest overall spending caps in the bill.
I certainly don’t want a default. But I don’t want a downgrade to our credit rating either. This bill certainly threatens that – with real hurt like higher mortgage and car interest rates for every Louisiana family. We can – we must – do better.

Forget what the media says about markets down because of the bad economy. The only thing that’s changed is that Congress passed this obscene bill that does nothing to bring spending under control.
Yesterday, all the markets were down – Asia, Europe, and U.S. Already today the Asian markets are down even more than yesterday. The professional money men know … nothing’s changed in the U.S. We are still on a collision course with default. When it hits the only ones who will be surprised will be Obama, Dems, and their media friends … and they will try to blame the people for their failure.

Thank you Senator Vitter for voting no. Those who voted yes now have cross-hairs on them.

Dear Senator John Boehner
I am writing to you as a very concerned taxpayer and I am
hoping that as the Speaker of the House you will be able to assist me in a political
problem that I am having a very difficult time understanding.
According to Article 2 section 1 of the Constitution of the United States it states that
in order to be the President of the United States one must be a “Natural born Citizen” now it
is not clear in the constitution what a “Natural born Citizen” is, but in a book titled the Law
of the Nations that is defined and it is also said that the Constitution was written with “The
Law of the Nations “used as a Legal reference and that the definition is “A child born on
U.S. Soil to Parents not owing foreign allegiance to any other Country “with that in mind
it seems that Mr. Obama would not meet those criteria, even if this birth certificate that was
produced is legit, then it would clearly show that Mr. Obama’s Dad was a Non U.S. citizen
therefore the most that Mr. Barrack Obama could be is a Native born citizen not a “Natural
born Citizen” and therefore Mr. Barrack Obama is not constitutionally eligible to be the
President of the United States. Unless I am missing something that seems to be what the
case is. Could you please explain to me how Mr. Barrack Obama is a “Natural born Citizen?

Mr. Thomas, I would be happy to do that for you. You see, Vattel’s Law of Nations has never been our law. We are a country that interprets the Constitution and follows rules of law. In the Minor case in 1875, the Supreme Court stated, very clearly, that there are only two kinds of citizens, those who are citizens at birth and those who are naturalized. In the same case, the Court equated native born citizens and natural born citizens. The clear meaning of all this is that a NBC is a Native born citizen is citizen at birth. The Court did not define who a citizen at birth was. However, the Congress. Title 8 section 1401, subsection (a) of the US code clearly states that a person born on US soil is a citizen at birth. Ergo, a person born on US soil is a NBC regardless of parentage.
If you interpretation was correct, the child of a citizen woman whose father is unknown for whatever reason, or whose is not a citizen and either dies or disappears before the child is born could never be a NBC, and that is just plain stupid.
