Trump wants to see Obama’s birth certificate

Possible presidential candidate Donald Trump waded deeper into the “birther” waters on Wednesday.
“I want him to show his birth certificate. I want him to show his birth certificate,” he shouted on the TV show “The View.”
That would be President Barack Obama‘s birth certificate, of course.
When the birth certificate brouhaha heated up during the 2008 election, the Annenberg Public Policy examined Obama’s “certificate of live birth” as a well as a newspaper notice of Obama’s birth in Honolulu Advertiser on Sunday, Aug. 13, 1961. It found them to be authentic. Click here to see Annenberg’s analysis with photos of the documents.
Dr. Chiyome Fukino, then Hawaii’s health director, said she examined original documents and verified that Obama was born there.
But skeptics want to see what they call Obama’s “long-form birth certificate,” which includes the name of the hospital where Obama was born and the doctor who delivered him – information not included on his certificate of live birth.
Some skeptics also offer this explanation for the newspaper birth notice: When Obama was born in 1961, rural home births were common. A family member would then go to the nearest hospital, provide the information, and receive a birth certificate. The hospital then provide information about birth certificates issued to the newspaper.
The theory goes that Obama was born in Kenya, and his mother called her mother in Hawaii to get a rural home birth certificate to ensure there would no issues surrounding Obama’s citizenship.
When I previously wrote about Trump and the Obama birth issue, I was criticized for gratuitously mentioning Aliso Viejo’s Orly Taitz, who’s become famous for her lawsuits attempting to prove Obama illegitimacy. So I’ll forgo further mention of her this time, and simply include the following links.
