Duggar affair: I am more concerned about Josh Duggar not paying his taxes for 4 years now, as an adult, versus something he did 12 years ago as a 15 year old teenager!
By Dr. Orly Taitz, ESQ
Today it is impossible to avoid Duggar affair, specifically Josh Duggar’s inappropriate touching of his sisters and babysitter when he was a 15 year old teenager. I am trying to look at the Duggar affair from different angles and different points of view. First, our media is, indeed, biased, lopsided and far to the left. Lena Dunham bragged in her book about molesting her younger sister, which included aggravated molestation and her confession of placing pebbles in the vagina of her younger sister, yet our media does not call for cancellation of all shows with Lena Dunham. In my opinion there has to be consistency, and I believe that everyone should contact networks producing the shows with Lena Dunham and demand either cancellation of the shows or removal of Dunham from any shows.
With that being said, I would like to go back to Josh Duggar. If, indeed, there was no recidivism of inappropriate touching, which happened when Josh Duggar was 15, it is a closed issue. There is a reason why minors are treated differently than adults, their brains are not mature, they are minors. My issue, though, is the fact that Josh and Anna Duggar did not pay their taxes for 4 years now, as adults, this is a much more serious problem. The State of Arkansas reported that they owe some $14,000 in unpaid taxes for 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012. We saw some episodes of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar doing premarital counsellings for their children and teaching them not to be in debt. So, what about the tax debt? Did Jim Bob and Michelle teach Josh and Anna that tax debt is not important and does not count or did Josh and Anna Duggar simply decided that they are above the law, that the laws do not apply to them? In my opinion, they had to act as responsible adults, they had to pay their taxes and make a decision, what can they afford on their post-tax income. If they cannot afford a large family on one income, they had to make a decision to use birth control and limit their family to two children and not continue having children, whom they obviously cannot afford. I remember seeing a clip where Jim Bob Duggar is telling Josh and Anna: congratulations, now you have more children than an average American family. I do not believe that it is an achievement to have a lot of children, if you can’t afford to support them. After all, welfare queens and pimps impregnating them for maximum welfare benefits have more children than average Americans too, but their lifestyle is not an achievement, but a burden on you and me, the taxpayers. An achievement, in my opinion, is to be a responsible adult and have the children that you can afford.
Again, non-payment of taxes goes on on both sides of the political spectrum. Recently, it was exposed that Al Sharpton and four other MSNBC hosts owe large amounts of unpaid taxes and I believe that the public should contact MSNBC and demand cancellation of shows of all of the hosts who did not pay their taxes.
Going back to Duggars, I am concerned that there is a wrong and potentially dangerous message being sent to young people watching the show. Don’t get me wrong, I think that Duggars, all and all, are good people. Aside from one incident with their son, Josh, when he was 15, there were no other incidents with other children, they are not taking drugs, they are not alcoholics, they don’t release sex tapes or naked pictures and they don’t hurt others. They seem like nice people, however young people need to understand that their life is not a norm. Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar have a TV show and can comfortably support a large number of children, however, most families can’t.
Yesterday, Duggars’ two married daughters appeared on Megyn Kelly show. It is rumored that TLC will have a spin-off of “19 kids and counting” with these 2 daughters and will call the spin-off “2 brides and their husbands”. The problem with the lives of these daughters is that other couples cannot afford to have children following in their foot steps, emulating their life styles. So far, none of Duggar children graduated from a university and none has a career or profession, which can support a large family. Most of Duggar kids marry very young, before they get education and professions, the wives stay at home and the husbands have small salaries.
Let’s take recently married and already pregnant 22 year old Jessa Duggar-Seawald, who married a 19 year old kid, Ben Seawald, who is taking classes at a nearby college and who is working part time reportedly repairing windshields. How much money can he make working part time as an auto mechanic? A $1,000 a month, maybe $2,000 a month. This is not enough to support a family, yet they are talking about having as many children as they can possibly make and also adopting a bunch of kids. If it was any other couple telling you that they want to have some 20 kids on a $1,000-$2,000 per month, you would tell them that they are nuts and that they probably fell on their heads, yet it is accepted as normal for Duggar kids. It works for them for now because the Duggar parents have a show and can help their adult married children to support their families with proceeds of the show. But what happens when the show is over and there is no spin-off for the two married sisters? Even Jessa’s older sister, Jill, who married better, will not be able to afford some 19 kids whom she is planning to have. Jill is better off than Jessa, but not because of something that she did. Jill, like Jessa, has no education, no profession and she never earned 1 cent. She was lucky to marry a man from a normal, meaning average, American family with a mother and a father and two children, who went to school and to university and learned real professions. Her husband, Erick Dillard, is an accountant and reportedly makes some $50,000. They, like Seawalds, live rent free in a house that belongs to their parents. $50,000 is a decent income and maybe enough to feed a family of three but not a family with 19 kids.
I believe that it is important for the reporters to ask these pointed questions, ask Duggar children, how will they be able to support a large family without a TV show, how will they pay rent or mortgage and other expenses and it is important to show to young people watching these shows that this life is not realistic, that they need to get education, professions, stable jobs before they make kids and they should use birth control and limit the number of kids to a reasonable amount, probably two or three that they can afford on their limited incomes.
Similarly, we see on the left a show like Kardashians. It is important for young people to know that their lives are not a norm either, that their father, famed attorney Robert Kardashian, left a reported $100 million inheritance, which was divided between the 4 children. Not many American young people receive such an inheritance.
I believe it is time for the networks to show not extremes on the left or right, but normal American families, real lives, real struggles. Today there is a 14% unemployment among young people under 35. In black communities there is reported 40% unemployment among young people. Half of college graduates can’t find jobs. I believe it is time to look at real lives of average struggling Americans and see what can be done to improve their lives. Please, contact the networks and lobby for shows depicting average American families and their struggles.

Dunhams were from Kansas, not ENGLAND.
Agree on taxes and tax issues. Too much fraud.
Duggars must pay all, with penalties.
Also, Hastert must pay taxes on bribe money. HUH?
Blackmailers must ALSO pay taxes on embezzled
extorted money. IRS is now busy, busy busy.
