Current deal with Putin is not ideal, but it might be better than nothing and might be a prelude to a deal in nuclear disarmament of Iran

After Obama drew his red line and second red line, the public bombarded their congressmen and demanded a “no” vote on a strike on Syria. After Afghanistan and Iraq the public does not have the stomach for yet another war, particularly knowing that Al Qaeda might take over Syria as a result of the U.S. involvment.
Reid cancelled tomorrow’s vote, as it became clear that he does not have the votes to pass the resolution, and the House was poised to rejected the resolution with a huge margin. This meant that nothing will be done.
A proposition to disarm Bashir Al Assad and dismantle his nuclear arsenal is not a 100% solution to many problems, however it is better than nothing.
Further, it is clear that Putin wants to make a deal, particularly considering his own problems in the former Soviet Asian Republics. This fledgling agreement on Syria might not work out, but it might be a prelude to a larger agreement involving Iran. US does not appear to be ready and willing to take down Iran’s nuclear weapons. There is no will in Europe. Israel may be able to take down Rouhani’s nuclear capability, however a unilateral strike by Israel might lead to a surge in terrorist activity affecting the Middle East, Russia, Europe and US.
While current agreement is not a panacea, it might be worth it to give it a try.
