Cruz will need 83% of the remaining delegates to beat Trump, which is impossible. Trump needs only 55% of the remaining delegates to secure the nomination

Can the brokers of the convention do anything then, Orly, to stop Trump??

Yes, remember that the GOP (establishment) chooses which people will represent which candidate, and can easily stack the delegates against Trump. They will have a lot more control over the outcome than they will if Trump gets to the 1237, but even if he does get there, they can amend the rules so that Trump will still not get the nomination on the first ballot, e.g. they might say that any democrat voters who voted in the Republican primary will have their votes subtracted from the total and delegates will be removed from Trump’s total. Even on the first ballot, if some of his delegates ‘oversleep’ they will miss the count (on purpose). I’m just praying that he will get way over 1237, like maybe 1300 or more, so ‘their’ unscrupulous games will be harder to win.
