Poll: 29% of Registered Voters Believe Armed Revolution Might Be Necessary in Next Few Years

May 2, 2013

Twenty-nine percent of registered voters think that an armed revolution might be necessary in the next few years in order to protect liberties, according to a Public Mind poll by Fairleigh Dickinson University.

The poll, which surveyed 863 registered voters and had a margin of error of +/-3.4, focused on both gun control and the possibility of a need for an armed revolution in the United States to protect liberty.

The survey asked whether respondents agreed, disagreed, neither agreed nor disagreed or did not know or refused to respond to the statement: “In the next few years, an armed revolution might be necessary in order to protect our liberties”

Twenty-nine percent said they agreed, 47 percent said they disagreed, 18 percent said they neither agreed nor disagreed, 5 percent said they were unsure, and 1 percent refused to respond.

Results of the poll show that those who believe a revolution might be necessary differ greatly along party lines:

  • 18 percent of Democrats
  • 27 percent of Independents
  • 44 percent of Republicans

The poll found that 38 percent of Americans who believe a revolution might be necessary support additional gun control legislation compared to 62 percent of those who don’t think an armed revolt will be needed.

Dan Cassino, a professor of political science at Fairleigh Dickinson and analyst for the poll, says:

“The differences in views of gun legislation are really a function of differences in what people believe guns are for.  If you truly believe an armed revolution is possible in the near future, you need weapons and you’re going to be wary about government efforts to take them away.”

The poll was conducted nationally between April 22 and April 28, 2013.

Of course, for this survey to be meaningful we would need 50 or so more years of data. Bush had only half of the approval rating that Obama does and he wasn’t tossed out of office. In our country we have peaceful transitions of power even when the president is as dreadful as and unpopular as Bush.

    Keep up all your work!

The only people pushing for a civil war is the communist enemies who infiltrated America’s government to conquer its land and control its people with an iron fist, they’re never going to stop trying to confiscate all the guns for just that reason. That’s their only job left before the total hell on earth communist tyranny begins as the new world order, one world government headed by obama’s nato forces. Sheriff posses and patriot forces will have to defend freedom and enforce the U.S. Constitution and arrest all the blatant complicit accomplice treasonous traitors and that’s what our enemy foreign infiltrated federal government want, so arrest obama right now.

Years? I thought it would be weeks, months to be honest?!
    ………
I understand the not triggering the nwo against us…as I think we are handling this attempt to take our country quite well. We won’t give them any excuse!
    ………
These nefarious, nattering nabobs of negativism are good at creating a scenario of a political “hallogram,” so the real desparate move will be the taking of weapons and martial law! If that ever happens, then, it will be time to become “Robo-Patriot” and never stop, till we win!!!!

They say “years” because Obama is actually a popular president. Being popular doesn’t mean that he can’t ALSO be a dirty Kenyan Usurper fiend but for now he’s well-liked.

I will not initiate violence but I, and others like me will unleash all hell if attacked. As Teddy Roosevelt said…”Walk softly and carry big stick!”

We still have a peaceful solution available.
We must contact members of Congress, demanding that they overturn Obamacare and vote against gun control. Tell them we will be checking on the voting records of the members, and working to kick out of office those who are RINOs and liberal Dems.

I have always said that a forced collapse of our economy will occur in the winter months – people are much easier to control when it’s cold.
