    Wow!

This is a revelation…that they don’t pay federal taxes!

How could they have gotten away with this for so long?

Because they can’t vote in federal elections. And as they are solidly Dem I’m sure you want to keep it that way. The risk is if they move to Florida in large numbers where they can vote

No taxation without representation? Does it sound familiar? Learn a little history before making uneducated comments. Even tho, Puerto Rico is at fault in part for the economic situation you can also blame in great part the democrap party in the U.S. for our situation, they have kept the island as a welfare commonwealth in order to be able to control it. I know for a fact that many times when P.R wanted to do certain projects to rely less on the U.S. we were told by the FEDS no, it can’t be done, you belong to us and can’t do it. So there is plenty of fault to go around on both sides. Pueto Rico is also going through the same problems the U.S. is going with illegal immigrants from Dominican Republic who go to the island and then demand all the freebies they can get from those who pay taxes. Let it be a lesson that sooner or later in the U.S. if we don’t get a grip on this immigration business, the money is going to run out and we may face our self in the same situation, and please don’t confuse the Democrap or Republican parties in the U.S. with those parties in P.R. They are four completely different animals and have nothing in common.
