Award ceremonies might lose their audiences and significance as they now give awards to politically correct movies that very few people watch

By Dr. Orly Taitz ESQ

Years ago, an Oscar award or some other award meant that the movie is great, is worth watching. It meant a movie that was beloved by millions of people and watched with great pleasure by old and young for generations.

Do you remember Gone with the Wind, The last emperor? Motion picture academy would give an award  regardless whether the director was a man or a woman, whether it was politically correct or not.

Last year Oscars pushed political correctness. La La Land was a high grossing movie, that was artfully done, great music, great entertainment, high grossing. Many believed that it will get an Oscar. Instead, the Academy went with Moonlight, a movie that hardly anyone watched before and after Oscars. Moonlight is about a gay black kid, whose father figure is his mother’s drug dealer. In 2017 there was a push for more black entertainers getting awards and indeed the academy gave awards to two black actors and a movie about a young black gay man.

This year is the push to promote women. Two movies, that got a lot of nominations and awards, were Lady Bird and Three billboards. Both are movies about women. Again, very few people watched those movies. I don’t believe the awards will bring more audiences.

Let’s look at the matter from another angle. When football became political, with players kneeling, many people stopped going to football games, stopped watching NFL games and switched to either college football or other sports and activities.

I believe that the same might happen to Hollywood and the entertainment industry. Further, all of the attacks on President Trump turned half of the viewers away from a number of actresses. For example, after the inauguration actress Ashley Judd gave a hysterical anti-Trump speech, full of foul language. I personally was turned off, many others were turned off as well.  I would think twice before going to see any movie with Ashley Judd in a leading role. Many would not watch her movies either.

It seems to me that when the entertainment industry stops being the entertainment and becomes the political correctness showcase, turns into politburo, audiences might go somewhere else.

What do you think?

Save your money and buy a book. Most movies are based upon a book and the book is usually better.

Agree Dr. Taitz. I have to admit I haven’t watched an awards show since 2005. In fact, I can count on one hand how many current movies I’ve seen since then. I stick to the old classics, preferably black and white, like Gone With The Wind, Clint Eastwood movies.

Judd’s own sister, Wynona, came out at the time against Ashley. I’ll never watch any movie or T.V. with her, Streep, Streisand in them. Never.

My favorite hashtag is #HollywoodIsDead & #PedoWood in honor of all those children & others that have been victims of these hypocritical frauds.

P.S. I did rent “American Made” with Tom Cruise only because my daughter was an extra. It was surprisingly good & showed just how corrupt gov’t on both sides were & are, even much worse today, back to Clinton’s Mena, AR, corruption. They did cut a scene with BillyBob, the rapist, Clinton getting a lap dance. Hmmm.. wonder why.

I stopped watching all of the awards programs over 20 yrs. ago. As soon as they started becoming a platform to enlarge performers egos, instead of their acting performances that was it for me.
