As Trump pulled ahead of Clinton in OH, she might be reconsidering her strategy for VP

For a year it was believed that the former mayor of San Antonio and Secretary of HUD, Julian Castro, will be Hillary’s VP pick to ensure the Hispanic vote. However, in light of Trump’s pulling ahead of her in OH, she might be rethinking her strategy and considering OH senator Sherrod Brown as her running mate.
When interviewed about his possible VP slot, Castro stated: “That’s not going to happen.”
On the GOP side, Trump is down to 5-6 potential candidates.
One of them is believed to be Senator Jeff Sessions. Sessions is very close to Trump ideologically, a great patriot, however he is 69 years old and Trump might decide on a younger running mate and a woman.
Second choice is Newt Gingrich. He is extremely knowledgeable and a big supporter of Trump, however, the age is also a problem, he is 72 years old and he supported NAFTA, which Trump opposes.
As far as female candidates are concerned, former governor of AZ, Jan Brewer, is 71 years old and Trump might need a younger running mate to balance the ticket.
Condoleezza Rice is very experienced in foreign policy, will give Trump female and black votes and only 61 years old, however she appears to be reluctant to get out of retirement.
African-American Republican Congresswoman, Mia Love, is only 41 years old, she will give Trump women’s and black votes, however, she has been a congresswoman only for 2 years and she might not have enough experience for the position.
Senator Joni Ernst is a female and young, she is only 46 yeas old, however, her very conservative stance on abortion might keep the young women away, also, she was a senator for only a couple of years.
Lastly, former two times congresswoman and current Governor of OK, Mary Fallin, seems more acceptable to women voters than Ernst and she has extensive experience in both Congress and as a governor. She is 61 years old, not too old to be on the ticket.
Ultimately, I believe that Trump should ask his prospective running mates to appear as his supporters on TV news shows and discussion panels, town-halls and rallies to show their grasp of issues, their ability to think on their feet and likability. He needs to assemble focus groups and gauge those candidates on likability, appeal to voters, knowledge and smarts before he makes the decision.

    No on Mia Love. She’s a RINO. In choosing a VP. Trump needs to think about continuance of his term after he leaves office, assuming his VP would be elected POTUS. Picking a VP just to “carry” some state is fine — if that person also shares Trump’s views and convictions
