Assemblyman Tim Donnelly embodies the courage and bold character that Constitutional, Tea Party and grassroots conservatives have been searching for. His ability to inform and explain the benefit and wisdom of freedom and independence over big government restraints then promote these values and principles across ideological and Party lines has been refreshing and inspiring.
Here is a little bit about Assemblyman Donnelly: He is an UCI graduate and a Border enforcement activist. In fact he is the founder of a local Minuteman chapter. He has earned the reputation for being a bold Constitutional conservative and one of the busiest freshman legislators. He has courageously led fight to repeal AB 131, the CA Dream Act, calling for rally and press conference on steps of Capital. He has successfully highlighted the Human Trafficking crisis by authoring bi-partisan legislation to designate Freedom from Slavery Day and National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month.
Assemblyman Donnelly has successfully led a unanimous bi-partisan effort to audit CA Child Protective Services (CPS) to bring accountability to the mistrusted and inept government agency. He has been praised across Party lines for AB 351, the California Liberty Preservation ACT, which criminalizes any attempt to indefinitely detain American citizens without trial on California soil.

Bono: “Capitalism takes more people out of poverty than aid”

Our Research Fellow George Ayittey met the Irish rock star Bono in July 2007 during a TED conference. Professor Ayittey was speaking and in knowing that Bono would be in the audience, he explains that “I made a special effort to rip into the foreign aid establishment. . . . Later, Bono said he liked my speech but did not agree with me that foreign aid is not effective in ending poverty. So I gave him a copy of my book, Africa Unchained: The Blueprint for Development.”
Just recently drawing upon his Christian faith (and possibly the economics influence of Professor Ayittey?), in a speech at Georgetown University, Bono altered his economic and political views and declared that only capitalism can end poverty.
“Aid is just a stopgap,” he said. “Commerce [and] entrepreneurial capitalism take more people out of poverty than aid. We need Africa to become an economic powerhouse.”
