A letter from a conservative syndicated columnist Joan Swirsky as to why she is a 100% Trump supporter

Posted on | January 22, 2016 | No Comments

Dear Arlen, et al….

I am intimately familiar with the whole birther thing and consider myself a birther in good standing, having written not one but three articles about this subject before the 2008 election. I wish we had had a man of Trump’s influence back then to abandon political correctness, as he has, and to force the issue of eligibility for POTUS to go the Supreme Court. I know, I know, many legitimate lawsuits were blocked, I believe by Elena Kagan, but whatever. It still would have been a great thing.

Now we conservatives face the same situation we faced in 2012, when the purists among us sat out the vote rather than pulling the lever for the less-than-conservative Mitt Romney. I personally looked at Mitt as I look at white bread… not a lot of there there, except for his leftist tenure as the MA governor and a good show re the Olympics. But I voted for the guy because of my deep conviction that a weak Republican was better than any Democrat.

I wonder how all those idealistic purist Republicans feel now after almost eight years of a communist/jihadist regime in power (and their egregious abuse of power).

And yet, the same arguments prevail re Trump… is he conservative enough, a real conservative, blah, blah, blah.

Coming from a business family, I always thought that the gigantic corporation known as the United States of America should be run by a businessman. That would be Trump. And now this other less-than-conservative candidate, Trump, is speaking forcefully about national security (to me, always, the number one issue) and respect for law enforcement and protecting our borders and creating jobs (who has a better track record?), et al.

If Republicans get out that silver platter again, and hand our country over to any Democrat, they can sit in their armchairs and congratulate themselves on their “principles” and have a ringside seat as the devolution we’ve been witnessing for the past eight years (or more like 25 years or much longer) is embedded irrevocably into our national character.

I’m for Trump 100%… as the rest of the country seems to be at this point. In fact, I consider it a sign of America’s Manifest Destiny that Mr. Trump came along at this particular time in our history.

All the best….

Joan
