Probably the easiest way is to fly from L.A. to Jacksonville, FL and then rent a car and drive. Air fare should be reasonable if you do it that way. There may be an airport near Jekyll Island that a commuter type of flight may fly into from Jacksonville since Jekyll Island is a tourist destination.

Most likely the cheapest flight will be to Atlanta, GA. It is quicker to fly to Savannah, but cheaper, most likely to Atlanta, From Atlanta airport, it will be about a 5 hour drive, and from Savannah, about 2 hours. Hope this helps.

I am a cheer leader for your campaign and a South East Georgia resident; fly into Jacksonville Florida, rent a car and take I95 North. Take exit 29 and travel South toward Brunswick, Ga. Follow the signs to Jekyll. It’s about 75 miles North from Jacksonville.

An alternative suggestion, my wife and I can meet you at JAX international airport and drive you to Jekyll. Your option.

If this is Orly, just do like Gary Franchise(sp) did. Get donations. Is this to do with Fed Reserve origin?

Delta services the route from LAX to Jacksonville and to Glynco Jetport respectively with one stop flights. The prices should range from $240 to $330 round trip. There are other airlines that service this route. Just try out kayak.com

Dr. Taitz, I believe the best path is to take a flight from CA to JAX FL. If you can give me a heads up, I will be honored to act as a taxi service to take you and your luggage from JAX airport to Jekyll Island GA, as I live in Kingsland GA about 30 miles from the airport, and about 30 miles from Jekyll Island. If you wish other transportation, there are car rentals available in and around Jacksonville, JAX, which may better serve your interests. I do not at this time have the names of local hotel/motel acommodations in the Jekyll Island area, but the town of Brunswick GA is nearby, and you can find listings for them on the internet quite easily.

    Orly,
I usually have very good fortune on Priceline.com where I bid my own price. I just done a check but not knowing your exact travel details couldn’t find an exact fare for the day you desire to travel. But just plugging in a couple of days next week from LAX to Brunswick , GA, I found a fare for $287 + tax for a total fare of $330.00 including all taxes. My suggestion would be to bid your own price. it is very easy and costs you nothing unless they accept your price. I would suggest bidding $245.00 Of course they would add the tax to that bid if accepted for a total in the vicinuity of $290.00 round trip. All you do is click on to Name your own price Block. Complete the page with travel instructions, your name , ect. Then you enter your Credit Card info. Where it asks for your bid, enter something like 245.00 Again that will be + tax they will add on. If the airline accepts your bid your credit card will be immediately charged, but you will have got your ticket for a very reduced fare. If the airline doesnt accept your bid, then it costs you nothing and you can always pay the normal fare.

There is another site that you could use which I have found to be the lowest cost on a regular basis. It is: https://www.momondo.com. they do a search with all of the travel sites and give you the best price available.

Once in Brunswick you could rent a car as Jekyll Is. isn’t far from the airport. Otherwise, I am sure there is a Patriot in the area who would gladly meet you and save you the expense of a rental car.

If you believe you would like to try Priceline but need help, just call me and I will talk you thru it as you enter your info on your computer. They issue e tickets from the airline just like anyone else and you can check in on line. Once you win a bid they give you your complete intinerary and all right away. Last week I priced an airfare from San Antonio to Raleigh, NC in June. The lowest price found on any site was $385. I won a sucessful bid on priceline for $191.00 including all taxes.

    Hope this helped Orly. morgan

    Orly,
At Brunswick GA, take hgh 17 either South or East to hgh 520. That will take you into Jekyll Isand. Total miles should be no more than 10.

I THINK they run a train out to the actual island. If you’re planning on going to that We the People Foundation meeting, just ask Bob Schultz at bob@givemeliberty.org

    Dear Orly,
I did look at Travelociy, and it shows a number of 2 stoppers from CA for under $400. Brunswick is the closest regional airport to Jekyll Is. You could, for eg., fly LAX to Phoenix or Dallas, then to Atlanta (Hartsfield), then take a regional jet to Brunswick. Looks like its just a ferry ride from there to Jekyll Is. If you flew into JAX, it’s about a 1 1/2 hour or so drive to Brunswick, and Jekyll Island is across the bay.
God Bless You and Protect You and Your Family Orly. I’m praying that this nightmare will be over soon…that Souter or Scalia will have the guts to STAND UP…that the Nevada Governor will join the Good Fight. You are in my prayers always. We will never give up.

If you go to Mapquest and or Google Maps you will be able to print out a map showing your drive from the airport to the island.

google maps type in JAX and it will come up. It looks like a very easy drive.

My wife and I did our honey moon at Sea Island which neighbors Jekyll Island. We flew to Jacksonville, and drove to Sea Island. Its a little over an hour drive best I can remember; but, a nice ride with plenty of scenery along the way.

People from the Bay Area should check rates out of San Jose, which can be a lot lower than from SFO.

Do you know the way to San Jose?

I’ve been to Jekyll Island, GA several times (it is my favorite vacation spot & has great beaches). My husband used to work at Moody AFB (Valdosta, GA) until nov 2006; and we used to vacation on Jekyll Island (camping), or just go there for the day. Brunswick is the town next to it; you cross over a bridge to get to the island and pay a $3.00 toll fee to gain access (I believe it’s considered a national park). There are several hotels (and many condos/villas for rent) on the island.

If you fly in to Jacksonville, FL and drive up in a rental car, you would drive north on I95; and take the Brunswick exit (hwy 82). That is the road that will take you directly onto the island. I don’t remember Brunswick’s airport (we didn’t drive around that town much), but if you can fly directly there from LAX as cheap as you could to Jacksonville, timewise it might be better. It just seems you’d possibly be able to get a direct flight from LAX to Jacksonville, whereas you’d have at least the changeover/layover in Atlanta before getting to Brunswick.

I can’t help you much on the best flights (since I haven’t flown in years); but I have driven to Jekyll Island several times, via hwy 82 (from Waycross, GA), as well as going north on I95, from Jacksonville. I live in NC, but vacationed down there several times (since my husband worked in GA). If you need further information, such as possible hotels on the island, or directions, I’ll do the research. I have 5 or 6 books about Jekyll Island, and should be able to locate some of the brochures I’ve picked up during my trips there. You can email me directly, or post here if you need further info. I’ll be back on here later in the morning, I have to get up in a few hours to get grandkids ready for school.

    Orly,

When are you going and how much $$$ do you need to get there?

I am sure someone will gladly drive you there so you may be able to get a little shut-eye (sleep) during the drive time.

Please let us know. I am sure you will be able to take your pick from those willing to be your driver.

Tried to post here earlier this morning, but it wouldn’t post.

My books weren’t relevant, except to show Jekyll Island is a State Park; and my vacation folder only has campground info & local events. The best information can be gained from Jekyll Island’s website. Here is the link for the webpage that lists hotels on the island (individual website links for each hotel).

The Jekyll Island Club Hotel is in Jekyll Island’s historic district; all the others (Beachview Club, Days Inn, Jekyll Oceanfront Resort, Quality Inn, and Villas By the Sea Resort) are oceanfront. Each have their own restaurants; there are no other eating facilities on the island (except maybe at the golf courses). There is also a small grocery & an ice cream store (at least as of 2006).

    Hope this helps some…
