Last week I participated in a debate with my liberal left opponent Harley Rouda, which aired on the Inside OC show with Rick Reiff this past weekend. Things got a bit tense prior to the debate when Harley threatened to walk out, and his staff called Mr. Reiff, a Pulitzer Prize winning reporter, a “hack,” because I had notes in front of me. It was a shockingly display of pettiness from grown men.

Anyway, here are my takeaways: to start, Rouda should debate himself to sort out all the positions he has taken, and then denied, during the course of this campaign.

While running for the Democrat nomination, Rouda endorsed every liberal/left big spending scheme in the books, including:

Canadian-style health care system

• “Medicare for All” legislation which would outlaw private insurance and force every person into a government-run system.

• Medicaid, Medicare, and other taxpayer funded services for illegal immigrants.

He also promised to immediately join the Progressive Caucus, which includes notorious members of Congress such as Maxine Waters, Sheila Jackson-Lee, Keith Ellison, and Senator Bernie Sanders. He also committed himself to impeaching President Trump, and paying reparations for slavery.

Today, he is singing a drastically different tune. During the debate, Rouda denied ever supporting Medicare of illegal aliens. This is a lie, and you can see his remarks here for yourself. He obfuscated his stand on impeachment and ran away from his previous position. If one thing is clear, Rouda has a credibility problem.

• Rouda condemns the oil companies, but has himself been heavily invested in and personally profited from crude oil.

• Rouda says he wants to protect health care, but he fired a woman with cancer  because her insurance cost was too high. She sued, and a court ordered the company to pay her nearly $2 million in damages. Apparently he is willing to use your money to provide healthcare to others, including illegals, but draws the line when his personal wealth is affected.

• Rouda says Washington is dysfunctional, but he has promised to impeach the President, which would grind our government to a halt – the ultimate obstructionism that would reduce Washington to gridlock. (Indivisible OC Debate, 3/6/18, 26:56)

• Rouda told Democrat voters he supports giving Medicare and Medicaid to illegal aliens. Now he’s trying to deny it.

I have made it clear where I stand on the issues. I empathize with hard-working families in Orange County and recognize the deleterious impact illegal immigration has had on our state and country. I will continue to fight against taxpayer funded benefits to illegal aliens and the sanctuary policies that shelter alien criminals.  Under no circumstances will I ever support amnesty for the millions of aliens living in the United States illegally, as it would be disrespectful to legal immigrants and invite the world to come here or at least send their children here. Rouda would do the opposite, and that’s why he is dangerous for our country, you, and your family.

The next few weeks are critical. I hope you can take some time from your schedule to walk a precinct, make phones calls, and even donate to our campaign. Every dollar counts, as I am being outspent significantly because Nancy Pelosi and other liberal left power brokers are backing Harley big time.

The Daily Wire has said our race could determine control of the House of Representatives. Help me make sure Nancy Pelosi never holds the Speaker’s gavel again.
