    Dear Orly,

    A coincidence of timing that on Dec 11th, day of Fuddy plane crash, it is announced by AP that admin official for Gov. Neil Abercrombie – Tom Matsuda (“I worked closely with Director Fuddy on the Affordable Care Act) took over as head of Hawaii’s health insurance exchange after its previous executive director Coral Andrews resigned.

    HONOLULU (AP) – An administration official for Gov. Neil Abercrombie has taken over as head of Hawaii’s health insurance exchange after its previous executive director resigned.

    Board President Sherry Menor-McNamara of the Hawaii Health Exchange says Tom Matsuda took over this week for Coral Andrews, who resigned.

    Andrews said previously that she was leaving for personal reasons and was not asked to leave, despite struggles for the exchange as it launches.

    Hawaii plane crash kills 1, survivors plucked from water by Coast Guard

    December 12, 2013 (HONOLULU) — A small plane carrying nine people crashed into the water off the Hawaiian island of Molokai, killing the director of the state Department of Health, officials said. The eight others survived.

    …Tom Matsuda, the interim executive director of Hawaii’s health insurance exchange, confirmed Fuddy’s death.

    “I cannot even begin to convey what a terrible loss this is for Hawaii,” Matsuda said in a statement. “I worked closely with Director Fuddy on the Affordable Care Act and came to know and respect her as a passionate advocate for public health and a warm, caring human being.”
