Dearest Orly –
This is not so much for posting as it is a thought …. I work with motivating a workforce each day. A key component to success is a weekly metric with a target/goal that the “people” own and can take pride in when they exceed goal. In your case, I would claim that there is much value in NOT presenting the absolute dollars raised, BUT having a metric such as “Percent to Target” would help communicate to US Supporters our performance. A quick and simple example with low numbers … say you set a weekly goal of $1000 and we are at $200 on the second day of the week .. we are 20% to target (80% below target with five days to go)..Updating each day of the week, so that all can see our progress. THEN after week one is done, start over with week two. (Clean slate and try to meet goal again). By just using percentage metrics, you can communicate to us how we are performing (good or bad) without exposing any actual dollar amounts to the opposition. You can change the “Target Goal” each week to match what you believe the amount of needed dollars are given the situation and circumstances at hand. Just a thought to maybe help motivate some fund raising… Where I work, “If you cannot measure your performance, you cannot improve” … Without a metric … there is no means to “quantify” our performance, thus it becomes more difficult to motivate the supporters (cuz we wanna believe that there are many of people out there supporting you financially, therefore falsely believing that all is taken care of).
God Bless –

Good post, and I agree with you. We should send some money it is expensive. Patriot’s shouldn’t be cheap. As you said $5 isn’t much, if people can afford more, that would help more.
