Why CPAC straw poll results do not mean much

Have you ever wondered, how come Rand Poll repeatedly wins CPAC straw polls but does not do that well on all the other polls?
Well, here is the answer to the mystery. I attended CPAC last year. Between the convention fee, airfare, hotel, taxi and other expenses, it is a couple of thousand dollars cost and not too many conservatives can afford to take time from work and pay all of the expenses to attend CPAC. So,organizers bring some young people for free. Typically, these are students from DC area or young kids who are bused to the convention. These kids assist in running the convention, checking credentials, setting exhibits. These kids are also allowed to vote. It was announced that 42% of people who voted in the straw poll, are students. Students like the message of the young pacifist, Rand Paul, and they consistently give him a win during CPAC conventions. The problem for Paul, is that CPAC demographics does not reflect the demographics of GOP voters. Notoriously, young people are skipping elections. As a demographic group, older people are more likely to vote, particularly in a primary. Furthermore, GOP voters on average are older than Dem voters, as with age people mature, they have more life experience with work, raising families and taxes and they become more conservative and more likely to vote for GOP. Young kids are more likely to vote for Democrats.
So, we should not give too much credence to CPAC straw poll, though Scott Walker’s second place there solidified his position vis-a-vis other polls. Of more importance is an Iowa poll where Walker is leading with double digits. Iowa is an important early primary state and many see Walker as a crossover candidate who might appeal to both tea party and establishment voters, though personally I am not sure about Walker considering his prior support for immigration reform and in state tuition for illegal aliens. If ultimately the field narrows and it will be between Walker or Bush, then Walker appears to be a better choice, closer to people, less a part of the ruling billionaires’ establishment.
The only presumptive candidate who was consistently against amnesty, is Ted Cruz. Additionally, his message of abolishing the IRS and having a flat tax was well received. Dr. Ben Carson echoed this anti-IRS sentiment. Even though Cruz has an eligibility problem, realisticaly, I do not expect it to be seriously challenged. If our corrupt Attorney General of the US, top officials and judges allowed Indo-Kenyan charlatan Barry Soebarkah-Soetoro-Obama to usurp the White House with a flagrantly stolen Social Security number and fabricated IDs, we do not have a rule of law anymore and it looks like anyone can run. Evidence on Obama’s use of bogus IDs is below.
Evidence of forgery, fabrication, fraud and identity theft in Obama’s IDs

Rand Paul wins CPAC straw poll again, but Scott Walker comes on very strong

Sarah did not get any votes because she isn’t running. YET! If and when, I have $500 to support her, but this time, I have to be convinced that she means IT. She is the only one that has any chance at gaining any partnership between the dems and reps to get anything through Congress. She can do it!

Doesn’t Sarah Palin have to be cautious of her words because of FOX contract? I don’t think she will say anything until June/July.

The only candidate that would have a better chance of beating any Democrat candidate would need to appear in the middle. Most Americans are Independents and easily shift back and forth between Democrat and Republican.
Walker appears to be less of a right-winger than Rand according to how he displays himself in public. Carson has handled the View well with the liberal ladies when getting his ideas out and he’s black, so therefore I believe that only a Walker/Carson ticket could beat Hillary.

I don’t think she still has a contract

I believe Sarah Palin signed a 3 year contract in June 2013 as a FOX “contributor”…

IMHO Republicans need to pick a nominee with the background and guts to tell it like it is in no-nonsense plain English and let the chips fall where they may. Whether they are or will be running in 2016 I don’t know but Newt Gingrich and Sarah Palin are the only two who come immediately to mind.

The problem with Rand Paul is that he supports McConnell!!!!!
That says it all!
And I remember how Gingrich pranked everyone off by telling America (back in the ’90’s) that the Contract with America would do the job!
Then, he and the (R)’s did nothing!
They’ve all just pranked us off, at every turn!
I saw where someone listed (3) people who do speak it like it is and they are: Pat Buchanan; Jesse Ventura; and don’t remember the other one. Oopppsss: it’s Dr Alan Keyes!
