What is wrong with Oregon and other “mail in” vote states

There are no machines in Oregon. Every registered voter is mailed their ballot ahead of voting day. In the privacy of your home, you fill out your ballot, place it in a privacy envelope (included), insert it in the return envelope, which must be signed by you on the back. (That signature is compared with your registration card signature before your vote is counted). Then you have the choice of putting a stamp on it and mailing it back, or, there are drop boxes, similar to outside mail boxes, in convenient locations, where you can return your ballot. In my case, I drive a few blocks to the City Hall/Police Station, drive up alongside the box, roll down the window, deposit my ballot and go on my way. No machines, no Black Panthers, no intimidation by anybody.

Response from Orly: the problem with the “mail in” states, is mostly in electronic scanners. Those can be programmed to spit out any result, you wish. I always give as an example your home computers. without you touching the computer, it jumps an hour in the middle of the night and shows Summer savings time. The same can be easily done with the scanners.
Additionally, veracity of mail in votes is not checked. Here in CA I am about to submit my appeal in the case of Damon Dunn, who ran against me for secretary of state.   He submitted a voter registration card, which was left blank in the area for prior registration. He was asked, whether he registered to vote before, in what state and what party affiliation.
He left this area blank, to make believe, that he didn’t register before, even though he registered in TX and FL and registered as a Democrat. I also forwarded to the judge a letter from the registrar in FL, where Dunn asked them to delete from his record his voter registration there, where he was registered as a Democrat.  The judge saw all of this and a letter from nominators, who said, that the nomination was fraudulently obtained, that they did not sign those nominations and the judge dismissed the case. Do you still believe, that there are free and fair elections in this country? It seems, that if you are not compromised by fraud, if there are no buttons to push (like voter registration fraud or forged birth certificate of fraudulently obtained social security card), you will not be elected in our rigged elections. In our CrinimalsRus.gov you have to be a crook to be pronounced a winner of any election.
This should be filed in every state and with FEC, to stop voting by electronic machines as well as use of electronic ballot counting scanners, which can be easily rigged

Florence according to the bush administration’s DoJ there was no voter intimidation by the Black Panthers. Videos show people going right around them, into the polling station to vote

On this matter, of voting & ballots, it is all a matter of degree.

The WORST scenario is where many states have already arrived – totally electronic voting process. That is TOTALLY subject to manipulation. Recently in Riverside Country CA, WHILE the votes were being counted, the machine manufacturer’s personnel were onsite manipulating the counting process (eg making software changes???).

At least when there are paper ballots, there is some traceability and potential for re-counting/auditing a la Florida Bush v Gore.

The very fact that this Congress has allowed a foreign country (and not a particularly friendly one) to take ownership of the voting machine manufacturer is treasonous in itself IMHO.

    (1) Electronic voting machines are the worst for traceability. It is treasonous that the US Congress has permitted the sale of this technology to a foreign country not friendly to us.

    2) With paper ballots, there is at least the potential for re-counting/auditing, a la Florida Bush/Gore.

    3) MOTOR-VOTER registration, dead people on voting rolls and lack of ID required at voting booth make the entire process pretty much worthless today.

Orly, you are such an expert on voting fraud that it is truly a shame you were not elected secretary of state. If you win your case against Dunn will the election be re-run?

    @cindy,

Since you don’t believe that several members of the New Black Panthers standing in front of the entrance to a polling placing with nightsticks in hand constitutes voter intimidation then I expect you to keep your mouth shut when an equal number of the Guardian Eagles stand in front of the entrance to a polling place with rifles in hand.

I live in the largest county,Douglas, but not the large population of Multnomah and the other counties of the ‘bigger’ cities. As our ballots arrive at the court house in Roseburg, OR, they are hand counted after comparing the signatures on the ballot with the signatures on file. I have seen a picture of this being done, on the front page of our local paper. As far as I know, no scanners of any kind are used.

HOW DO I KNOW IF MY BALLOT IS RECEIVED?
You can always call your county election office and ask if they received your ballot. A record is kept showing each voter whose ballot has been returned.

CAN ANYONE FIND OUT HOW I’VE VOTED ONCE I MAIL MY BALLOT?
No. All ballots are separated from the return envelope before the ballots are inspected. This process ensures confidentiality.

WILL MY VOTE STILL COUNT IF I FORGET TO PUT MY BALLOT INTO THE SECRECY ENVELOPE?
Yes, the ballot will still be counted.

    WHEN ARE BALLOTS COUNTED?
All ballots are counted on election day. No results can be announced until 8:00 p.m. on election night. No more than five days before election day, county election officials begin preparing the ballots for counting by opening the return identification envelope and the secrecy envelope and securing the ballots until election day.

WHEN WILL ELECTION RESULTS BE KNOWN?
Ballot counting cannot begin until election day. Initial results are released at 8:00 p.m. election night and will continue to be updated through election night until all ballots have been counted.

The Elections Division is responsible for registered voters, and for conducting and administering all elections in the County, including Primary and General Elections as well as elections for cities, schools and special service districts. The Archives Division stores records which must be preserved permanently, or for some records, maintained for a specified period of time.
SINCE THEY ARE ALL PAPER BALLOTS, A RECOUNT CAN BE DONE EASILY, IF NECESSARY.
I CAN FIND NO MENTION OF ANY MACHINES OR SCANNERS BEING USED IN OREGON’S VOTING/BALLOT PROCESS. I MIGHT CALL TOMORROW AND FIND OUT FOR SURE.
