There is a water shortage because Liberals are wasting it not us. The global warming scheme wastes food and water for auto fuel. It wastes it and has us bankrupt. Doesn’t anybody get this yet? How bad does it have to get? We are operating on deficit spending entitlement subsidies for the alcohol program. Young people cannot afford to go back and forth to work except on bicycles. Liberals hate the oil industries because it funds the opposition party so they shut it down. We cannot get the 90 million who are out of work back to work without using oil energy. Put Reid in jail for using deficit spending for the windmill insanity and for shutting down the oil industry.

California Water Crisis is a Man-Made Disaster
Posted on April 7, 2015 by Common Constitution
In December of 2014, NBC Nightly News reported on a massive amount of rainfall that fell in a 24-hour period. In Southern California it was 8” or more in spots.
During the broadcast an NBC reporter interviewed Fritz Coleman, a Southern California Weathercaster for KNBC, who stood aside the swelled Los Angeles River and said: “All of our water – we sit and watch it run down the L.A. River and we go – see ya.” The reporter then claimed that in fact “85% of all the rain water that falls in Southern California is wasted.” It is not collected or diverted. It is allowed to run out to sea.
And why is that? Well, of course, it’s the result of radical environmentalism and the extremist policies they push, with the aide of their willing accomplices in the California State House and Governor’s Mansion.
Just as they do nationwide to our energy sector – forcing the closure of hundreds of coal plants, not allowing drilling on federal lands or permitting the construction of nuclear plants, these environmentalist wackos have all but caused the California water crisis.
No, they didn’t cause the actual drought. To my knowledge they are not gathering in fields to perform a no-rain dance, but the policies pushed for decades by these loons have certainly caused the conditions we see today.
Former CEO of Hewlett Packard and possible presidential contender Carly Fiorina spoke of this very problem on Glenn Beck’s radio show. The Blaze did an accompanying report on the interview where she said the water crisis is the result of “liberal environmentalists” who are “willing to sacrifice other people’s lives and livelihoods at the altar of their ideology.”
We’ve all heard the term “man-made” global warming. Well, Fiorina said the same of the water crisis. She explained that “It is a man-made disaster.” The California water crisis “is a classic case of liberals being willing to sacrifice other people’s lives and livelihoods at the altar of their ideology. It is a tragedy.”
But liberals are one of the predominant species in California, and they too must be hurt by the drought conditions. Doesn’t the drought also negatively affect their lives? Yes, of course it does, but we must always be mindful of rule Number 1: Liberals are liberals first, and will think and act as one, even possibly to the determent of themselves, their families and communities. It’s a form of atonement for perceived social “sins.” They’re a lot like religious folks who beat themselves in order to make amends for wrongdoing.
Yet the ill effects of this latest drought could easily have been mitigated with the building of new reservoirs, rainfall diversions, dams, and other water conveyance systems. But again, state and federal environmental regulations have prevented such things, that and the massive cost of construction.
The last major reservoir construction in California took place in 1979. Since then the state has added a population the equivalent of all the people living in Washington State, Oregon and Nevada, or about 15 million.
But as I stated, reservoir construction is pricey and the state must bear most the cost burden. Gone are the days of massive federal subsidies for such projects.
In June 2014, it was estimated that to expand just three major reservoirs and build two additional ones, the total cost would be somewhere around $7.5 billion. Now, approximately one month after this report was published, Gov. Jerry Brown approved the coming fiscal year’s budget at $108 billion. At the same time the “Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) released a report for 2014 finding illegal immigration costs California taxpayers $25.3 billion per year. That’s darn near 25% of their entire budget! Let’s see, $7.5 billion for more water or $25 billion for illegals. Tough choice.
California can cry all it wants about the effects of the drought and the cost of mitigation, but how many reservoirs, dams, and aqueducts could be built with $25 billion per year?
I’m certain we’ll never find out.

And this:
“In 2014, National Review’s Charles C. W. Cooke filed a dispatch from California’s Central Valley, an area that was once an agricultural hub and has now been reduced to a virtual dust bowl as a result of drought combined with severe and unnecessary resource mismanagement. That misallocation of resources is not the result of a frustrating tradeoff between the needs of Central Valley farmers and the desert-dwelling populations of Los Angeles and San Diego, but the eternally threatened smelt.
“In 2007, the pumps were turned down; the Delta’s water output was lowered dramatically, contingent now upon the interests of a fish; and the farms that rely on the system in order to grow their crops were thrown into veritable chaos,” Cooke wrote of the smelt-favoring anthropogenic water crisis. “Predictably, a man-made drought began.”
This is a classic tale of activist government run amok — and, too, of the peculiarly suicidal instincts that rich and educated societies exhibit when they reach maturity. Were its consequences not so hideously injurious, the details would be almost comical. As a direct result of the overwrought concern that a few well-connected interest groups and their political allies have displayed for a fish — and of a federal Endangered Species Act that is in need of serious revision — hundreds of billions of gallons of water that would in other areas have been sent to parched farmland have been diverted away from the Central Valley and deliberately pushed out under the Golden Gate Bridge and into the Pacific Ocean, wasted forever, to the raucous applause of Luddites, misanthropes, and their powerful enablers. The later chapters of “The Decline and Fall of the United States” will make interesting reading.
Make no mistake: The rare, hard-done-by, and rightly protected manatee the Delta smelt is not. According to some estimates, there are no more than 3,000 manatees left in the United States, and, when left unchecked, human beings have had a nasty tendency to maim and kill them in the service of nothing more exalted than speedboating. By contrast, when the Great Smelt Freakout of 2007 began, there were 35,000 to well over 100,000 of the little buggers, depending on whom you ask. And yet the powers that be have seen fit to decree that no more than 305 of them may be killed in a given year. As an exasperated Harry Cline, of the Western Farm Press, put it in February 2012, last year “800,000 acre-feet of water went to waste based on the science of four buckets of minnows. That is enough water to produce crops on 200,000 acres or 10 million tons of tomatoes; 200 million boxes of lettuce; 20 million tons of grapes. You get the picture?”
The present crisis is not entirely California-based; Washington also plays a role. In December, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a bill that would have pumped water from the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta into Central and Southern California, but it died an unceremonious death in the Democrat-dominated Senate. If the measure had passed both chambers of Congress, President Barack Obama pledged to veto it. Why? Environmental groups feared the threat it posed to the smelt.”

Smelt deemed more important than California citizens…

Above article: $25 billion for California illegals. New reservoir cost: $7 billion. Do the math. Several new reservoirs posssible without additional taxpayer cost as billions are already going to illegals!!!!
