Interesting tidbit of information

Posted on | January 25, 2011 | 2 Comments

As you know, there was a terrible terrorist act in Russia yesterday.  It was announced that Tatianin day will be cancelled today. What does it mean?

Tatianin day is named after a Russian saint Tatiana. What is special about this day, is that on Tatianin day, January 25 in 1755 Russian Empress Katherina issued a decree of endowment of Moscow university, the  first university in Russia. This day is considered a Student day in Russia. Students are known to be very vocal, typically dissident towards the establishment. You might recall that Lenin started his political career, when his older brother, student Alexander, participated in anti government activity and was hanged.

Another Tidbit. Just a day or two ago ticker screens in U.S. showed an announcement about Alina Kabayeva. Who is she? Well, I actually followed her carer some years ago just because of sports solidarity. I used to do artistic gymnastics (which in U.S. is called Rhythmic gymnastics). Alina was a highly decorated rhythmic gymnastics champion. She was known for her elasticity and musicality. She later retired and became a prominent member of Russian Parliament,Duma. Two years ago there was an article in one of popular Russian papers that after retirement from his position of the President of the  Russian federation and becoming the Prime minister, Putin will quietly divorce his wife and marry Kabayeva. There were rumours that he is already divorced. Kabayeva was rumored to be the Russian equivalent of French Carla Bruni. Later both Putin and Kabayeva denied the rumors. Just two days ago FOX reported that according to Russian newspapers Kabayeva had a son with Putin. Kabayeva issued a statement that the young boy  is her nephew, not her son. Putin denied the affair. It looks like for now Kabayeva affair is following the pattern of Vera Baker affair, a young woman rumored to be connected to Obama. Baker reportedly was banned from Obama senatorial campaign by Michelle. It is hard to tell what is true or not in those things, but I noticed that these three events happened one after another. One day there is an announcement all over the world that Putin fathered a son with Kabayeva, next day terrorist act in Moscow, next day cancellation of Tatianin day all over Russia. Maybe it is all a very weird coincidence, maybe not.
