Free trade with England caused the first American revolution. Free trade with China, India, Indonesia, Brasil and other third world countries with de facto slave labor caused the second American revolution, which is now engulfing the country

John, You’re so moronic I can only conclude that you’re a product of our esteemed US educational system. The Founding Fathers of the United States were staunch protectionists. Free trade in the states caused desperation because the cheapest goods were made in England and the US simply could not compete. This caused a massive trade imbalance with England, bankruptcies and depression. From this depression caused by free trade almost came a second revolution stemming from an armed rebellion in Massachusetts; another rebellion was narrowly averted in New Hampshire. George Mason wrote of it: “Had there been no free trade, there would have been no inundation of foreign goods; had there been no inundation of foreign goods, there would have been no drain of specie (money); had there been no drain of specie, there would have been no lack of circulating medium; had there been no distress, there would have been no impulse toward insubordination to the state |

An America Lost in Squanderville
The United States’ trade gap is the proverbial “leak-in the-dike” with its de-simulative effect on our recovery. In November 2003, Warren Buffett in his Fortune, Squanderville versus Thriftville article recommended that America adopt a balanced trade model. The fact that advice advocating balance and sustainability, from a sage the caliber of Warren Buffett, could be virtually ignored for over seven years is unfathomable. Media coverage that China has kept it currency undervalued is a gross understatement, it has actually been keeping the U.S. dollar over-valued; which adversely affects all our trade with all our trading partners, not just trade with China. Until action is taken on Buffett’s or a similar balanced trade model, by the powers that be, America will continue to squander time, treasure and talent in pursuit of an illusionary recovery.

Hugh: well, that balanced trade activity would be great. We had the balanced trade, with tariffs, in the past.
But I guess I’m not sure I’m “in” with big business “outsourcing” their production to a communist nation. This is treason!
There are several “discount” stores that promote cheaper prices for items made in communist china! That’s not right! And I have seen towels made in Pakistan!!! Other items made in Hondorus! Etc.!
The NAFTA thing that Clinton pushed and wanted…helped with “turning the key over” in this “car with no wheels”!
Clinton was part of the problem in throwing our economy into a “pit-bull fight”! B.S.ing us that this will help to “create jobs!”
Treason has been “rampant” in Congress, in govt! Not to mention the “shadow govt” behind America! And we all know whom these people are!
America needs to “END” the “fix” on “outsourcing” production! I mean: how much “profit” is enough?? There is at least one “business practice” that needs to be “revisited” to bring back “fiscal sanity” and to keep America afloat!
But your discussion on the “balance” is right! This is what we face today.
We need voters who are still “self=disciplined” enough to begin to vote for the [honest, truthful candiates] who WILL “reverse” this C.E.T. plan to “take away” our “way of life”!
And “none” of them (IMO) are (Dems)!

It’s fun to watch you tacitly admit you’re wrong, Orly.
