Timothy J. Heaphy
On October 16, 2009, the United States Senate confirmed President Barack Obama’s nomination of Timothy J. Heaphy as United States Attorney for the Western District of Virginia. Since taking office, Mr. Heaphy has managed the prosecution of federal crimes and defense of claims against the United States in this diverse district. He has supervised and personally handled a broad array of criminal cases. He has ensured the recovery of millions of dollars in civil fines and penalties. Mr. Heaphy has also pioneered a novel program of community outreach within the Western District, through which he has enhanced the Department of Justice’s support of crime prevention and prisoner reentry programs.
Prior to being appointed United States Attorney, Timothy J. Heaphy’s career included 12 years of service (1994-2005) as an Assistant United States Attorney in both the Western District of Virginia and the District of Columbia. During his time as an AUSA, Mr. Heaphy prosecuted a broad spectrum of criminal matters including, narcotics, weapons offenses, homicides, sexual offenses, white collar fraud cases and racketeering.
In 2002 and 2003, he was counsel for the United States in the longest-running criminal trial ever held in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia — a RICO prosecution of a violent drug gang in which the defendants faced capital punishment. He also briefed and argued more than a dozen criminal appeals. After moving to Charlottesville, Va., he spent three years prosecuting environmental, national security, narcotics, violent crime, and public corruption crimes as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Western District of Virginia.
From 2006 through 2009, Mr. Heaphy was a partner at the law firm of McGuireWoods, LLP. While there, his practice involved the representation of individuals and business entities in white collar criminal defense matters. In addition to his criminal defense work, Mr. Heaphy represented corporations in complex commercial litigation. He applied his considerable trial experience to these criminal and civil matters, appearing in state and federal courts, and before administrative and regulatory agencies.
Mr. Heaphy is a graduate of the University of Virginia and the University of Virginia Law School. Upon graduation from law school in 1991, Mr. Heaphy served as a law clerk to The Honorable John A. Terry of the District of Columbia Court of Appeals. He subsequently spent two years as a litigation associate at the firm of Morrison & Foerster in San Francisco, California.
In addition to practicing law, Mr. Heaphy has taught several classes as a lecturer at the University ofVirginia School of Law. He has also lectured frequently at the U.S. Department of Justice’s National Advocacy Center in Columbia, S.C.

From your link, it says “they were brutally assaulted by three men in what appears to have been a random act of violence.”
Are random acts the same as Hate Crimes?
Do the perpetrators have to be caught/arrested or at least identified before they can be charged with a crime?

Civil Rights attorneys and organizations succeed not by lifting minorities UP, but by dragging majorities down to level the field.

US attorney and FBI need to appear on TV, show pictures and ask the public for assistance in catching the perpetrators.
These are brown shirts. They are beating people up, they are not acting in self defense. People need to arm themselves, so they re not sitting ducks, not prey

It is likely that this was a mission to gather sensitive evidence in the face of their knowledge that the Obama administration is a dangerous criminal enterprise from which America must be rescued – and soon.

I found more info. The victim’s cell phone photos are here. They are not very clear.

According to CPD spokesperson Ronnie Roberts, investigators canvassed the Downtown area after the assault but did not find anyone matching the description of the alleged assailants. Police did not release Doucette’s pictures to the public, Roberts said, because they believed surveillance video from the bank might offer clearer images, and they hoped officers might recognize some of the men in Doucette’s photos without tipping them off that they were being sought.
Roberts said police requested the bank video on Friday, December 27, a week after the attack, and had not received it as of Sunday, December 29. On Sunday, Doucette finally posted the pictures she’d taken to her Facebook page and said she quickly received several tips that she has passed on to police. Her frustration at the lack of an investigation is palpable.

It appears that the police messed up.
There was a TV news report about this. Video at the link.

Charlottesville police are under fire after an alleged attack on the downtown mall blew up on social media.
Police say the female victim contacted the department December 29 to provide additional information to help with the investigation, and that’s when she learned the case had not been assigned to an investigator – more than a week later.
Meanwhile, police Chief Tim Longo has asked members of the field operations and support services command to determine why the investigation was not immediately assigned to investigators and “identify precisely where this breakdown occurred.”
As of Monday morning, the chief has requested that this case be investigated immediately by the department’s general investigation bureau. Police say the investigation is currently underway, but there are still a lot of questions, including the role those pictures will play in the investigation and any surveillance that may be available.

Anyone that is nominated by Obummer
is suspect as a person of interest
insofar as betraying this country.
Sounds pessimistic?
Obama chooses only his own
kind of critter.

Hey, Sobarka=barka: you’re nuts!
We should NOT lift up those that won’t even try to do something constructive in their lives, to add to the American dream!
Far too many of those other types are nothing more than lazy, good-for-nothing leeches that want to be handed everything on a slver planter! No freakin’ way!
