ABC reached a financial settlement with Roseanne and reportedly she is laughing all the way to the bank. ABC director Channing Dungey and Disney chairman Bob Iger quickly fired Roseanne and canceled the show after reportedly Michelle Obama called and complained about a bad joke Roseanne twitted about Michelle’s girlfriend who reportedly still lives in Obama’s DC house, Valerie Jarrett. Roseanne apologized for the tweet.
Since Roseanne was the most popular show on TV and Roseanne is entitled to royalties, ABG had to shell a pretty penny to Roseanne in order to continue with the show without her. They reached a financial settlement. Not only was she paid off, but she also retained the rights to her character. If the show without her tanks, she will be able to recreate a show around her own character and still keep the payoff, which is expected to be in high tens of millions if not hundreds of millions, as Roseanne was paid $21 million in season 9 before the reboot. The agreement is confidential, but often the details are leaked. I wonder, how many millions did ABC ended up paying Roseanne for firing her?
