Time to change cloture rules from 30 hours to 5 or 6 hours. Senate needs to move faster
By Dr. Orly Taitz ESQ
US senate has archaic rules of cloture from 1917. For about a 100 years the rule was that in order to end the debate on a nomination or bill the majority needs to give the minority at least 30 hours to debate. This rule created an enormous bottleneck for confirmations and bills.
Each president has 400 appointed positions to fill, which need to be confirmed by the senate. Previously Republicans worked with the Democrats and quickly filled all the positions. Currently, the Democrats are sabotaging President Trump and his patriotic America First agenda and each confirmation drags for 30 hours.
Considering all the holidays and weekends it will take about 2 years to fill all of these 400 positions of high ranking US officials and ambassadors.
On top of that, most presidents replace US attorneys. These are federal attorneys for various districts around the country. There are 97 of them. Further, there are open positions of about a 100 federal judges and about 50 immigration judges.
President Trump will not be able to fill of these positions within 4 years. I believe that it is time to change archaic cloture rules and limit the debate in the senate to 5 or 6 hours instead of 30, as it is the case with cloture rules now.
Proposals to Change the Operation of Cloture in the Senate
Jan 3, 2013 – Paragraph 2 of Senate Rule XXII, also known as the “cloture rule,” was adopted in 1917. It ….. the end of 30 total hours of additional consideration. ….. the provisions of Rule XXII can be changedby a majority vote of the Senate at …. Perhaps Trump should just go enjoy a long vacation and have his press secretary just do daily briefings and say “The President will remain on vacation until all of his appointments are filled”. If nothing gets done, blame the obstructionists.

I agree Orly. But the democrats believe rules are for them to use on republicans or disregard when they restrict liberal agendas. It sounds silly but how about a rule requiring the democrats and supporters to obey the laws that have enacted by congress? When it came to deficit spending Pelosi said “Just do it”. When in comes to enforcing immigration law Trump should tell congress and the judges: “just do it”.

This sounds like a great idea, Orly!

Doing a great job? We shall see.
I’m a bit disappointed about the diversity on the cabinet. No one is surprised that the board on Yahoo or Amazon or Google is all white. Seems that like hire like. Would someone have a problem if the board was all black, all Hispanic, all Indian..
I’m bringing this up because Trump could have made a statement for the US by finding a qualified highly intellectual female who was conservative and black. They are are there and I’m a bit perplexed and taken aback as business as usual.
Why not a black female judge on the supreme court?
There are plenty of black female judges who have graduated from top universities Summa Cum Laude.
I’m a bit taken aback again, especially the DeVos nomination. yes school choice. No problem. But her grilling was problematic for me.
There are academies around the states ran by educators in the trenches graduating 100% of their students in communities that have severe socioeconomic issues. Why didn’t anyone check out Urban Prep Academy in Chicago folks or get references from these folks?
We got a long way to go with this bias folks.

Urgent please forward to all your friends and any websites that you comment on to sign the White House petition.
We the people ask the federal government to Propose a new Administration policy:
Issue an International Arrest Warrant for George Soros
If the White House receives 100,00 signed petitions by 2/20/2017 they will have to reply to it and hopefully charge George Soros for sedition and RICO violations. Here is what the petition says below…
George Soros is a menace to the free world and stands in the way of making America great again. He is guilty of the following crimes:
1) Financially supports open sedition in major American cities resulting in millions of dollars of property damage as well as loss of life.
2) Attempts to manipulate democratic elections by donating millions of dollars to his preferred candidates.
3) Seeks to curtail American sovereignty. In his own words: “The main obstacle to a stable and just world order is the United States …
Changing [the] attitude and policies of the United States remains my top priority.”
4) Is a currency manipulator. Soros initiated a British financial crisis by dumping 10 billion sterling, forcing the devaluation of the currency
and gaining a billion-dollar profit.
Here is the link to go to the White House petition We have to get moving on this as of today there are only around 7000 signatures!

Here’s another idea:
8 hours, or however long one standard legislative work day is, for all of the top, major positions, like AG, Sec Ed, Homeland, etc, and 15 minutes each for all of those ‘lesser’ positions.
Also, allow the minority to shift the time from one nominee to another, so if they want more time to protest the AG, then they can forego speaking on other positions. Any positions they remove all time from would be confirmed via a bulk vote _before_ any further hearings, allowing those people to get to work immediately.
