Rep. Andy Harris to urge House Rules Committee to expand H-2B visas in spending bill — Call Rules Committee and GOP Leadership to oppose

Dear friends,

Thank you for your activism over the last week! Because of your efforts, the must-pass, short-term spending bill introduced by House Republicans does not include a significant increase in refugee funding for the coming months or an increase in H-2B visas.

But, our Capitol Hill team has just learned that Rep. Andy Harris (R-Md.) will urge the House Rules Committee to allow an amendment to the short-term spending bill that could potentially quadruple the number of H-2B low-skilled guest worker visas issued in 2017.

The House Rules Committee meets at 3 p.m. ET. We need your urgent phone calls NOW!

Talking Points:

I urge you to oppose any effort to expand the H-2B guest worker program by exempting returning workers from the annual cap. The H-2B visas is especially harmful for American workers without a college degree. Voters sent a clear message in last month’s elections — they want immigration policies that protect American workers, not harm them!
