Found Sheriff Long’s Facebook comments–not terrorist related…
Explosives story from October goes viral; local sheriff sets record straight about terror threat
The report led many on Facebook to share the story KY3 News did in mid-October. Then, a hunter found the explosives in the forest. The hunter is a U.S. Army combat engineer from Fort Leonard Wood. He
recognized his discovery as explosives and immediately reported it to the sheriff’s department.
Sheriff Long says an investigation by the U.S. Army and the Missouri Highway Patrol shows any terror activity in this case was likely ruled out. He too went to Facebook Monday morning to set the record straight.

RESPONSE TO RECENT ALERT ON A MEDIA OUTLET
Recently, a national news outlet printed an article about Pulaski County and possible terrorist activity here. Yes, in October some explosives were discovered in a rural part of this County, but there was nothing found that indicated the material was linked to terrorist activity. Experts from the Army and Missouri Highway Patrol EOD Units were called in to examine the find, and then the FBI and ATF were notified and briefed about the matter. In conclusion, all agencies did not feel like the explosives were linked to terrorist activity. Even though we can’t completely rule out the possibility of the materials intended use was for adverse purposes, I will say this would be a very remote possibility.
It is my personal policy as Sheriff to be transparent to the public, and put out press releases regarding matters that could affect public safety. Neither myself nor any of the above agencies felt like the above find was linked to terrorists. Please be assured that if this was the case, my press release and subsequent news stories would have contained that information.
