As a pretty savvy lawyer, you know that Article II of the Constitution is gender specific (since when it was written, women couldn’t even vote). 22 times in Article II the president is specifically referred to as “he” or “him.” In Article I Congressmen and Senate are not gender-specific. Only one time in Article I were “Congressmen” referred to by gender as male, but the verbiage use was non-gender.
I got into a nasty email/telehone debate with the Campaign Manager of a former Democratic presidential nominee’s campaign chairman, a lawyer, who insisted when the 19th Amendment was ratified in 1920 the amendment granted women the right to seek the offices they were denied when they were banned from voting. The 19th Amendment is only around 30 words, so I read it to him and asked him to show me where that right was. He cursed at me and hung up.
