News arrived in Europe in 1571 that Muslim Turks, under the command of Lala Kara Mustafa Pasha, surrounded the Christians in Famagusta, Cyprus. Muslims promised the defenders of Cypus that if they surrendered, they would be allowed to leave.

Unfortunately, Lala Kara Mustafa Pasha broke his promise, flayed the Venetian commander, killed all 6,000 Christians prisoners and turned the beautiful St. Nicholas Church into the Lala Mustafa Pasha Mosque.

Conversion of churches into mosques is common. I personally visited Hagia Sofia in Istanbul, Turkey.  It used to be a beautiful Christian cathedral which was converted into a mosque and a harem was built nearby. I do remember, though, that after visiting the harem one of my sons said that we should get a refund. (there were no girls there) 🙂

    Yeah…it looks like this talking out of both sides of their mouths has been going on for centuries!

    It is incredible just how much murder God allows!!!
