Obviously, it would have been racist to disallow conyers just for invalid signatures. the rule of law just can’t be for everyone.

Rep. Conyers is active in support for the Detroit area Muslim community. The article is dated May 28, 2011.

On Tuesday, Rep. John Conyers (D-MI) wrote a letter to fellow Members of Congress seeking support for a resolution calling on the federal government to “take steps to counter anti-Muslim sentiment.”
Citing a September 2010 poll showing 20 percent of Americans have “negative feelings toward Muslims” as a result of the 9/11 terror attacks, Conyers said the “general climate faced by the (Muslim) community has continued to create barriers to full participation in public life,” and “should be addressed by official government policy.”
Conyers did not specify what policy he wanted to see implemented, but wrote:
We believe that this sense of Congress is a logical step toward sending the message that the American Muslim community should be able to enjoy the rights guaranteed under the Constitution to the same extent as all other Americans. Communities should be protected from the threat of violence and suspicion that was at the heart of last January’s thwarted attack against the Islamic Center of America in Dearborn, Michigan. They should also be able to rely on law enforcement’s fundamental integrity and respect for First Amendments protected rights. Ultimately, the American Muslim community should be able to rely on the federal government to lead the effort in fostering an open climate of understanding and cooperation. Only through a balanced examination of the challenges facing the nation will we establish a strong policy framework for protecting security, while respecting the Constitution and the interests of affected communities.
According to the Michigan Messenger, Conyers was joined by Hansen Clark, another Michigan Democrat. Hansen, along with Andre Carson (D-IN) signed Conyers letter.
Conyers represents Michigan’s 14th District, which includes Dearborn – home to America’s largest mosque and a population that is estimated to be about 30 percent Arab-American.
According to a post at Findlaw.com, the U.S. 6th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled against the city in a case involving Christians who were arrested for exercising their First Amendment rights during an “Arab International Festival.”
Dearborn authorities arrested four members of a Christian group named “Acts 17 Apologetics” for allegedly breaching the peace at the Dearborn Festival when they tried to preach to the droves of Arab-Americans attending the festival. According to The Associated Press, the festival had offered Christian evangelist George Saieg a free booth in 2010, but he and his followers were barred from walking around freely on the sidewalks with literature trying to convert those Muslims in attendance to Christianity.
After this event, there were even some aspiring politicians who claim that the City of Dearborn officials were enforcing Shariah law by arresting the four missionaries.
Nevertheless, Conyers believes it is the Muslim community that deserves special attention by the federal government.
Are Muslims being treated unfairly in the U.S. as Conyers claims?
A May 7 article in the Detroit Free Press says the federal government is investigating alegations that Muslims are being singled out for harassment at U.S.-Canada border crossings in Michigan:
The complaints include incidents at the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel, the Ambassador Bridge in Detroit and the Blue Water Bridge in Port Huron.
The investigation comes in response to complaints filed in March by the Council on American-Islamic Relations with the Department of Justice and the Department of Homeland Security.
The council said it was concerned that agents were even asking people about their prayer schedules.
Muslims, Arab Americans, south Asians and other minorities have complained for years about being harassed at border crossings. Now, some say it’s getting worse.
But the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) has come under fire over its apparent links to known terrorist organizations like Hamas:
On April 18, The House Committee on Homeland Security issued a press release detailing Rep. King’s call for answers from the Department Of Justice regarding non-prosecution of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) and CAIR co-founder Omar Ahmad in the notorious Holy Land Foundation trial.
Specifically, Rep. King wants to know why the DOJ has given CAIR, founder Omar Ahmad, and other unindicted co-conspirators such as the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) and the North American Islamic Trust (NAIT), among others, a “free pass” considering the ample evidence against them presented at the Holy Land trial.
Is Conyers attempting to address a real problem, or is he engaging in shameless pandering to help win re-election in 2012? The idea of federal policy aimed at molding American’s attitudes towards a specific group of people is abhorrent to many.
Conyers and those like him apparently do not understand that government-sanctioned thought control is not something Americans are likely to support.

If I were the Secretary of State, I would ignore the federal judge and keep Conyer’s name off the ballot.

??? “The Secretary of State of Mi is also a Communist.”
Ruth Johnson is the current Secretary of State of Michigan. She is a former member of the Michigan House of Representatives and the 2006 Republican candidate for lieutenant governor as the running mate of Dick DeVos.
