NY, CA, CO, MD- just a few of the states where people want the states divided. This is actually a good movement, as more people will get representation and voice, which they did not have in mega states

Such proud moments for the USA! Meanwhile, on this side of the pond, Upstaters in NYS are itching to create their own state and leave the Metropolitan area with Comrade De Blasio to its own devices: Secession movement in New York pushes for Big Apple to split from Upstate BTW: there is proposed legislation in the NYS Assembly to do just that: BILL A 391 SUMMARY: Provides for a referendum on the question “Do you support the division of New York into two separate states? |

Splitting the states is not the answer, stop the gerrymandering.
1. Make gerrymandering illegal, by both parties. Divide states into small rectangular grids, combine adjoining grids within a state, working in a rectangle until population reaches the right sized for a representative.
2. Appeal the 17th amendment returning to the State Legislators the right to appoint senators.
No more problem.
Additionally, force legislation to require all “news” personnel to be licensed and to take an oath to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. I they do no, then they would have committed bribery, and would spend up to 5 years in jail and be fined up to $250,000 for each occurrence.
No more problem.
Force a law to be passed that makes all tampering of voting, including non-residents, non-citizens of the district a criminal offense.
No more problem.
And while we are at it, form an independent, professional investigative team made up of citizens and directed, and funded by sheriffs (elected by the people) to investigate any and all cases of constitutional violations and recommend cases to grand juries.
No more problem

no, the opposite. Look at NH legislature, they have 400 state reps and more decent human beings. When you have 5,000 people electing a state representative, you can have a grass roots decent human being running for office and being elected. when you half a million people letting a representative, often you have someone on the take of he ruling money, propped by big bucks. running and winning. also, with 5,000 people electing every state rep., it is easier to identify fraud, with 500,000, like in CA, with mail in ballots, no voter IDs, illegals getting drivers licenses, it is impossible to put on the ballot one decent human being

Just as in Colorado, California, etc., there are quite distinct cultures in these states. Metropolitan areas tend to nullify the will of the small town/rural folk by sheer numbers. A decentralization of power would offer the opportunity for greater participation in government and less corruption.
