New act lets some 17 year olds vote

As we pause this year to give thanks, it is worth noting that beginning next year, the right to vote will be extended to a new group of young citizens in Illinois. When voters cast their ballots in the 2014 primary election in March, they will be joined by some 17 year olds.

House Bill 226/PA 98-0057 allows any resident who will turn 18 before the November general election to vote in the primary in March, even if they are not yet 18 at that time. This is one of many new laws that will go into effect January 1.

Allowing young voters an opportunity to participate in the political process will hopefully help to better engage the younger generation.

Illinoisis the 18th state to allow 17 year olds to vote in primaries.

Why is it you RWNJ’s are always so eager to stop people from voting?

    Alan Marsh,

If you aren’t 17 years old, then you
are a hopelessly clueless adult who
has no contact with the younger generation,
and therefore no grasp on how little the
kids (and they ARE KIDS) understand the
ramifications of WHO is running for
the highest office of this land,

and WHAT these candidates believe, and
for what they stand: their agendas,
    their backgrounds, their morals, their
    love for this country.

KIDS should not be voting. Apparently,
you don’t get that we now have an idiot
impostor in that esteemed seat of power,

and his mind is as simple as a 17 year old.

This impostor thinks like a child, acts like
a child, and has the fuzzy mentality of
    a child.

It is the ENTITY behind him, pulling his
puppet strings, which is destroying, through
    him, this country.

So, if you believe 17 year olds should be
deciding what and who is the best leader
for the United States, you are mistaken.

When I was 17, I did not know or care about
politics and lived life oblivious to what
    was happening in government.

Nowadays, these KIDS are being brainwashed
in not only schools of higher learning, but
    the contamination has infiltrated the
elementary and kindergarten levels of education.

So, Alan Marsh, go out and talk to a few
of these 17 year olds and ask them how they
see the world and what they would do if
voting… would they vote for the moral
and intellectual patriot? or would they vote
for a charlatan, a liar and a criminal?

Would they vote for someone who sends billions of dollars to the enemy? And by the way, ask them who are our enemies… do they know?

Think about it, and maybe you will have
another opinion about those of us who
you call ‘right wingers’… because the
    term itself is an anomaly.

We are more inclined to be moral, with
integrity and honesty as our traits.

Can’t say the same for the ‘other side’
    of the aisle.

    @Alan Marsh,

It’s not that we RWNJ’s are always eager to stop people from voting but, rather, it’s that we RWNJ’s are always eager to stop ignorant and ineligible people from voting.

Why are you LWNJ’s always so eager to help ignorant and ineligible people to not only vote but, moreover, vote early and often?
