Conservative Party to GOP: Hold The Line – For Once

As is their recent history, the GOP always talks a good game but seems to go wobbly when the chips are down and polls go sideways.

Hey Republicans: ObamaCare must be defunded NOW or it will metastasize into a deadly national cancer that will cavitate America.  House Republicans must use the Power of the Purse as provided in the Constitution to defund ObamaCare.  Hold the line until the individual mandate is delayed for a year – at the very least.  This absurd “law of the Land” doesn’t even require income verification to enroll for Heaven’s sake.

ObamaCare must not be allowed to go forward and just “fail under its own weight”.  That is total nonsense.  Nobody with any sense of history (or common sense) could possibly think that ObamaCare could operate for a year, enroll thousands, fail in all aspects and then expect Obama, Democrats and the media to say “OK, we tried, it didn’t work so let’s end it.”  Who believes that would happen?

Hey GOP: The Debt Ceiling should not be raised unless there are substantial and unambiguous spending cuts and entitlement reforms that will truly bend the deficit curve.  Stop being afraid of your own shadow.

Don’t believe the media and Obama scare tactics that conflate not raising the Debt Ceiling with defaulting on the Debt.  They are totally different.  The government generates enough monthly tax revenue to pay the interest and principle on the Debt. There is also enough cash flow to fund key entitlement programs (Social Security, Medicare, Welfare, etc), Defense, CIA and Homeland Security.  That is not “default” by any stretch.  But it does mean the Feds will have to prioritize spending and reduce other programs like the EPA and Department of Education.  Heaven forbid!

Stop being afraid that money markets and Wall Street might crater if the Debt Ceiling is not raised. The markets recovered after the Savings & Loan debacle.  They recovered after 9/11.  They rebounded after the collapse of GM, Chrysler, Lehman Brothers and AIG.  The markets continued to generate profits after the U.S. lost its AAA credit rating.  The markets survived TWO world wars, the disintegration of the Soviet Union and the financial collapse of Greece and Italy.  And they will recover after the Debt Ceiling holds firm in 2013.

Hold the line on defunding ObamaCare.  Hold the line on raising the Debt Ceiling.  Hold that line on stopping illegal immigration.  Preserve and protect traditional marriage.  Govern according to the Constitution.  Listen to Ted Cruz and Mike Lee.  Stop being afraid of transient polls.

Hey Republicans: If you just capitulate and do what Democrats and the media want then there is no viable reason for your Party to exist anymore.  Go home, sit on the couch, watch Oprah and R.I.P.
