MARXIST CHAVEZ JAILS PROMINENT POLITICAL OPPONENT

By Cliff Kincaid
July 15, 2010
NewsWithViews.com
In another outrageous case of the abuse of human rights, the Hugo Chávez regime in Venezuela has arrested anti-communist activist Alejandro Peña Esclusa on trumped-up charges of being a terrorist. The president of UnoAmerica, an anti-communist alliance, and the author of The Foro de São Paulo: A Threat to Freedom in Latin America, Peña Esclusa is a former Venezuelan presidential candidate who has opposed efforts by the Chavez regime to spread Marxist revolution in Venezuela and throughout the region.
Olavo de Carvalho, a Brazilian writer and friend of Peña Esclusa, says the Venezuelan opposition leader was taken away by the political police of Hugo Chávez on July 12, having been arrested on ridiculous, false, and absurd charges based on testimony allegedly given by a supposed Salvadoran terrorist now in Cuba. The Chávez regime, which functions under the direction and supervision of the Cuban secret police, apparently planted explosives as part of the frame-up.
Carvalho appealed to members of the U.S. Congress and the public to send immediate notes of protest to the Venezuelan government over this incident, which is more evidence of Chávez’s “utter contempt for the fundamental rights of his political opponents.”
The Venezuelan Embassy in Washington, D.C. can be contacted at 202-342-2214. The Ambassador, Bernardo Álvarez Herrera, can be contacted by email at despacho@venezuela-us.org Also please send a copy of your protest note calling for freedom for Peña Esclusa to the press department at prensa@venezuela-us.org
Carvalho said, “The Geneva Conventions guarantee to every prisoner the right to be visited by a minister belonging to the prisoner’s religious denomination, or by members of the Red Cross. I appeal to the Catholic Church in Venezuela to send a priest to meet with Peña Esclusa in prison immediately, in order to ensure that the excess of humanitarianism of the Chávez government will not lead the prisoner to death from emotional exhaustion or from unknown or unthinkable causes.”
“The goal of the farce set up against Peña is to create an appearance of connection between him and ‘violent right-wing organizations,’ which, in the current Latin American scene, stand out especially because of their spectacular non-existence,” Carvalho added.
The official Chávez news agency has declared that “Alejandro Peña Esclusa is a dark character of the Venezuelan opposition linked to fascist sectors and with a thick file of conspiratorial activities against the government of President Hugo Chávez.”
All of this means that he has been effective in organizing opposition to the would-be dictator, who is the subject of a laudatory amateurish propaganda film by Oliver Stone, “South of the Border,” now playing to small audiences in a few U.S. theaters.
The fact is, however, that Chávez has been systematically destroying freedom in Venezuela, including and most notably freedom of the press. There is only one major independent television station left in Venezuela, Globovisión, but its owner Guillermo Zuloaga has fled the country and is in hiding after an arrest order was issued against him on trumped up charges. Both the Washington Post and Wall Street Journal have covered these ominous developments, as the major media in the U.S. are starting to pay more attention to the destruction of freedom in Venezuela and Chávez’s ties to terrorist groups and regimes.
In a March 1, 2009, column published by Accuracy in Media, Peña Esclusa had predicted that Chávez would end up in so much trouble, because of popular opposition and discontent, that he would choose to rely on foreign powers such as Iran for protection and provide a base of operations in Venezuela for foreign terrorist groups. “Chávez is providing the Venezuelan territory to Middle Eastern terrorist groups, not only to help him defend his revolution inside the country, but as a powerful deterrent against his international adversaries,” he said.
This is precisely what is happening. As Accuracy in Media has recently documented, the situation in Venezuela is now so bad that even the Socialist International has condemned the human rights and economic record of the regime, raising concern as well about its involvement in Middle Eastern affairs.
Accuracy in Media published an interview with Peña Esclusa when he became a prominent global advocate of saving freedom and democracy in Honduras when a Chávez puppet was planning to seize total power and was evicted from the country. Although the Obama Administration sided with Chávez in this case, international opposition forced the Marxist forces to eventually abandon their campaign to take control of the Honduran government and destroy democracy there. As a result, Honduras has maintained its democratic and anti-communist form of government.
In the interview, however, Peña Esclusa was pessimistic about Venezuela, saying:
“There is very little room left for freedom and democracy in Venezuela. This is a ‘third generation’ dictatorship; not so cruel and obvious as Fidel Castro’s, but just as evil. There are elections, but rigged. There is certain freedom of press, but the media is threatened with closure if it ‘crosses the line.’ Not all Chávez’s adversaries are persecuted, just some, but enough to spread fear among the rest. All three branches of power are controlled by Chávez. The Constitution has been rewritten to allow Chávez to stay in power indefinitely. Venezuelan petrodollars are used to export his Marxist revolution throughout Latin America. And the government is closely related with Colombian narco-terrorists and Islamic fundamentalists.”
In the case of his detention in Venezuela, Carvalho said the alleged Salvadoran terrorist, who supposedly served as Peña Esclusa’s “contact” in Venezuela, was “interrogated and then sent to Cuba, where no independent investigator can contact him to verify whether his testimony really exists and whether it is true.” The Venezuelan regime claims that the Salvadoran, Chávez Abarca, is the right-hand man of Luís Posada Carriles, who was accused of bombing a Cuban plane.
“So far, however, the most compromising piece of information that has been found against Chávez Abarca is that he was arrested for car theft and smuggling,” Carvalho said. “The justice system of El Salvador set him free in 2007.”
He added, “If there is no evidence that Chávez Abarca is a terrorist, much less is there any proof against Alejandro Peña. The Venezuelan police said they found explosives in his apartment, which is laughable, to say the least. Peña, who has never shown any sign of mental unbalance, would have to be completely insane to plot bomb attacks against a government which he has filed suit against in the International Court of Justice.”
At this point, “Nobody knows where Alejandro Peña is, nor what his health condition is after some hours of fondling by the hands of Hugo Chávez’s political police, widely known by their matchless tenderness,” Carvalho said.

The American public and members of Congress need to be heard in this case because President Obama cannot be counted on to do anything to free Peña Esclusa or any other political prisoners in Venezuela.

Tom Hayden, the anti-Vietnam War protester and former official of the Marxist Students for a Democratic Society who became a leader of “Progressives for Obama,” has claimed there is a “gradual rapprochement” and a friendly “dialogue” between Obama and Chávez, while Oliver Stone’s new movie asserts that Chávez has been assured by Obama that the U.S. will not do anything to “destabilize” his dictatorial regime. In the Marxist lexicon, “destabilize” means supporting the forces of freedom.

Ground Zero Imam Rauf’s “Charity” Funded Genocide Mission — State Department Mulls Terror Designation For Group
 alt=”Perdana Rauf”>

Back on June 5th, I reported that Islamic supremacist Imam Rauf, the imam behind that grotesque flag of conquest on Ground Zero, was a “prominent figure” in “The Perdana Organization.” They funded the  genocidal Jew-hating terrorist group behind the murderous attack on Jewish soldiers on the warship flotilla. Rauf is funding IHH? Provoking, funding, encouraging a second holocaust? Where is he getting his $100 million for the Islamic supremacist mega mosque looking down on the mass burial ground at the World Trade Center, and why is Ayatollah Bloomberg calling any investigation into Imam Terror’s shady funding “un-American”? It’s anti-American not to.
More in the Imam unmosqued NY Post
The imam behind a proposed mosque near Ground Zero is a prominent member of a group that helped sponsor the pro-Palestinian activists who clashed violently with Israeli commandos at sea ……
Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf is a key figure in Malaysian-based Perdana Global Peace Organization, according to its Website.
Perdana is the single biggest donor ($366,000) so far to the Free Gaza Movement, a key organizer of the six-ship flotilla that tried to break Israel’s blockade of the Hamas-run Gaza Strip Monday.
IHH launched those genocidal ships, and Fox News reported last month that IHH has links to terrorist groups, including Hamas and Al Qaeda.
The organization was described in federal court documents as playing a role in the Millennium terrorist plot to bomb Los Angeles International Airport. Additionally, the Turkish charity was described in a recent report by the Israeli-based Intelligence and Terrorism Information Center as being a “radical Islamic organization with an anti-Western orientation,” and that “besides its legitimate philanthropic activities, it supports radical Islamic networks, including Hamas, and that at least in the past, even global jihad networks.
The State Department and Department of Treasury can designate persons, groups and foreign countries as sponsoring or being terrorists. The State Department has a list of Foreign Terrorist Organizations, including Hamas, Hezbollah and Al Qaeda, that are designated by the secretary of state. It also has a similar list for State Sponsors of Terrorism, which currently has four countries on it: Syria, Iran, Cuba and Sudan.
FOX EXCLUSIVE: State Department Mulls Terror Designation for Gaza ‘Aid’ Ship Funder
The State Department is investigating whether to designate the Turkish Muslim charity that funded and operated a Gaza-bound “aid” ship as a foreign terrorist organization, after nine people were killed aboard one of its ships in a bloody confrontation with Israeli commandos, Fox News has learned.
State Department spokesman Mark Toner told Fox News at a briefing on Wednesday that the government is looking into whether The Foundation for Human Rights and Humanitarian Relief (IHH), a nongovernmental organization, should be listed as a terror group.
“I believe we are looking at the IHH, but it’s a long process to designate something a foreign terrorist organization and …there’s nothing to announce on that,” Toner said.
Sources also said that sections of the Treasury Department are actively investigating IHH with the intent to designate it as a terrorist organization, despite some opposition from within the administration. While the department declined to comment on any current or pending investigations into IHH, it is known that Treasury has raised concerns about the IHH with Turkish officials in the past.
IHH funded and ran the Mavi Marmara, the ship aboard which nine people were killed when Israeli commandos boarded it as it sailed toward Gaza as part of a “humanitarian aid” flotilla last month. The group is documented as having ties to terrorists and was named in federal court papers as playing a role in the failed Millennium bomb plot 10 years ago. It also was named in a 1996 CIA report as having links to terrorist groups.
Formed in 1992 with the goal of assisting Muslims in Bosnia, IHH has branched out to many places, including Lebanon, Pakistan, Sudan, Somalia and the Palestinian territories.
The State and Treasury investigations follow a letter sent to President Obama late last month from a bipartisan group of 87 U.S. senators in which they called on the president to keep firm his administration’s support of Israel. That same letter called on the president to investigate the Turkish group.
“We are deeply concerned about the IHH’s role in this incident and have additional questions about Turkey and any connections to Hamas,” the letter read. “The IHH is a member of a group of Muslim charities, the Union of Good, which was designated by the U.S. Treasury Department as a terrorist organization. The Union of Good was created by, and strongly supports Hamas, which has been designated as a foreign terrorist organization by the U.S. State Department. We recommend that your administration consider whether the IHH should be put on the list of foreign terrorist organizations, after an examination by the intelligence community, the State Department, and the Treasury Department.”

This clip is a bit dated but it shows a professional computer programmer’s revelations to some congressional committee, about just how easy it is to hack a voting machine program. You may have already seen this but if not, it’s right in keeping with what we have these days……….
Please keep up the great work………….as a somewhat limited 76 year old being tied to a supplemental oxygen hose, I wish I could be of more help to your cause….you sure are a hard worker!!!!
